Oracle Database Support Engineer
We are looking for an Oracle Database Support Engineer with 3–7 years of experience in production database support, performance tuning, SQL optimization, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, and data integrity.
The role requires ensuring database availability, reliability, security, and performance while collaborating with application, development, and infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities
Provide production and on-call support for Oracle databases, including incident resolution and troubleshooting.Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, and health.Perform SQL and database performance tuning, including execution plans, indexing, statistics, and query optimization.Troubleshoot slow queries, locking, blocking sessions, deadlocks, wait events, and database errors.Maintain data integrity, consistency, security, and availability.Manage users, roles, privileges, schemas, storage, and routine database maintenance.Perform and support RMAN backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.Support patching, upgrades, migrations, deployments, and configuration changes.Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions.Collaborate with development, application, and infrastructure teams on database-related issues and SQL optimization.Monitor alerts and proactively identify performance, capacity, and availability risks.Follow security, compliance, change management, and data governance standards and maintain technical documentation.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.3–7 years of hands-on Oracle Database administration and production support experience.Strong knowledge of Oracle architecture, SQL, performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.Experience with execution plans, indexing, statistics, joins, partitioning, transactions, and data integrity.Hands-on experience with RMAN, backup/recovery, and database monitoring.Good understanding of database security, users, roles, and privileges.Experience with patching, upgrades, maintenance, and production deployments.Strong problem-solving, RCA, communication, and incident-management skills.Willingness to participate in on-call/rotational production support.Knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, replication, Linux/Unix, shell scripting, OCI, and automation is a plus.Oracle OCP certification and ITIL experience are desirable.
