Description

We’re looking for an experienced Backend Engineer for our clients to help build the infrastructure behind next-generation AI agents for commerce. You’ll work on systems that enable AI agents to understand user intent, interact with complex business APIs, retrieve real-time product information, and safely execute multi-step actions. What you’ll do Build scalable backend services for AI-powered agents and workflowsDevelop secure tool/API integrations for commerce and transactional systemsSolve large-scale retrieval, grounding, and data freshness challengesDesign safeguards including authorization, idempotency, rollback, and auditabilityBuild evaluation, monitoring, and observability for production AI systemsOptimize AI applications for latency, reliability, and cost What we’re looking for 5+ years of backend engineering experienceStrong Python skills; Go/Java is a plusExperience with distributed systems and high-scale production servicesBackground in ML-powered systems such as search, recommendation, ranking, personalization, or riskHands-on experience deploying LLM/AI systems to productionUnderstanding of AI agents, tool calling, orchestration, and multi-turn workflowsExperience with Kubernetes, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and IaC Location: Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid) Salary: Around ¥7M–¥10M
