Description
About Ryft
Ryft is a high-growth fintech start-up building the payments platform that powers marketplaces and merchants globally.
We handle the secure processing, splitting, and movement of money at scale, so our customers can focus on their business instead of the complexity of payments.
We're growing fast, and every hire has a real impact on our trajectory.
About the Role
Are you a senior frontend engineer who loves shipping high-quality products, and learns fast enough to grow with a platform expanding into Europe and beyond?
We are looking for a Senior Frontend Developer to join Ryft as a senior engineer on our frontend team.
You will work directly alongside our Frontend Engineering Manager and Product Designer, building across the full frontend estate: our merchant-facing web applications, our internal tooling, and our published payments SDKs for web, React, and React Native.
This is a hands-on engineering role in a small, close-knit team, working with an engineering manager who stays close to the code and leads on architecture and technical direction.
You'll be part of the conversation from design through to release, spending your time doing what seniors do best: writing excellent code and shipping features on products that move real money.
As the team grows around you, so will your opportunities.
What you'll work on
Merchant-facing web apps: expanding and improving the applications our merchants use every day to run their business on Ryft, including a ground-up rebuild of our merchant portal.Internal web apps: the tools our own teams rely on to support merchants and operate the platform.Web and React SDKs: evolving the payments SDKs that merchants and marketplaces embed to take payments in production.
These are public APIs with real consumers.React Native SDK: growing our mobile SDK as more of our customers build on mobile.European expansion: internationalisation, new payment methods, and the features that take our platform into new markets.
Responsibilities
Build and ship: Deliver features end-to-end across our web apps and SDKs, from design collaboration through to production, to a consistently high standard.Own the details: Write TypeScript that is strict, tested, and maintainable.
In a payments platform, correctness and careful handling of sensitive data are non-negotiable.Harness AI, stay in control: Use AI-assisted workflows to multiply your output (we invest heavily in them) while remaining in full command of every line you ship.Improve the codebase: Contribute to our shared component library, conventions, and tooling so the codebase gets better with every feature.Collaborate closely: Work day-to-day with our designer to turn designs into precise, accessible UI, and with our engineering manager on approach and priorities.Grow with the platform: Pick up new domains quickly.
Payments is a deep domain and our roadmap is ambitious.
Deep TypeScript and React expertise: Significant commercial experience building complex, production web applications with modern React and strict TypeScript.Fast, self-directed learner: A track record of getting productive quickly in unfamiliar domains and codebases.
Enthusiasm to learn matters more to us than payments knowledge on day one.AI-augmented, engineer-first: You use AI coding tools effectively to move faster, but you review, understand, and take full ownership of the output.
We are not looking for someone who ships code they can't explain.Quality instincts: You care about testing, accessibility, performance, and API design, and you know when good enough really is good enough.Small-team fit: Comfortable with the flexibility of an early-stage team, and happy to turn your hand to whatever gets the product shipped.
Nice to have
Payments or fintech experience: Familiarity with payment flows, PCI-conscious development, or building for regulated environments.SDK or library authorship: Experience designing and maintaining published packages with external consumers.Monorepo tooling: pnpm workspaces, Turborepo, generated API clients, or similar.
