You will work as an integrated member of Southwest's delivery team, providing expert-level cloud engineering support, architectural guidance, and operational excellence. Responsibilities Lead design reviews and provide implementation guidance for cloud solutionsTranslate business and application needs into scalable, cost-optimized architecturesDrive continuous improvement across reliability, performance, security posture, and cost optimizationProvide L3 incident, problem, and operational support; participate in on-call rotationAuthor and maintain operational runbooks: provisioning, rollback, backup/restore, DR validation, troubleshooting guidesConduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring and high-impact incidentsMentor L2 engineers and support escalationsRequirements Min. 5–7 years of experience in cloud engineeringHands-on expertise in AWS (advanced)Strong knowledge of cloud architecture patterns: HA, DR, network design (VPC, peering, routing)Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation or BicepObservability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog or equivalentCloud security: IAM, encryption, security posture managementScripting: Python or BashContainers: Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE), DockerITIL-based incident & problem management experienceEnglish: B2+ (daily work in English with US based airline teams)
