About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Frontend Software Engineer to join our Chewy+ Loyalty team.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and enhancing customer-facing membership experiences that enable pet parents to discover value, manage their plans, earn and redeem rewards, and engage with personalized benefits across Chewy.
You will work primarily with React and Next.js technologies, developing reusable UI components, integrating with APIs, and ensuring high-performance, reliable frontend solutions that directly impact millions of pet owners.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in frontend development, a product-oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in front-end development using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSSProven experience building customer-facing web applications with reusable React/TypeScript componentsExperience integrating with REST and GraphQL APIsStrong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and browser fundamentalsAbility to analyze API contracts, data models, latency, and system resiliencyBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experienceExperience monitoring production environments, troubleshooting, and incident resolution
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement scalable, resilient frontend solutions for customer-facing applicationsBuild and maintain reusable React/TypeScript UI components aligned with Chewy’s design systemIntegrate frontend components with REST and GraphQL APIs, ensuring efficient data flow and error handlingCollaborate with backend engineers on API design, data modeling, and system behaviorParticipate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and contribute to frontend best practicesEngage in Scrum ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectivesContribute to frontend architecture, testing strategies, observability, deployment pipelines, and operational excellenceFollow enterprise architecture, security, accessibility, and coding standardsSupport production environments through on-call rotations, incident response, and troubleshootingMentor junior engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and best practices
