About The Role As a Frontend Engineer at Luminary, you will play a pivotal role in developing AI-native interfaces that empower estate planning advisors to review, edit, and present complex trust and entity structures seamlessly. Your work will involve building chat agents that understand user context, ambient agents that operate behind the scenes, and sophisticated diagramming tools to visualize multi-decade projections and relationships. You will own the frontend architecture, ensuring robust component patterns, optimal performance, and shared primitives that other team members rely on. Collaborating closely with product designers and leadership, you will influence the user experience from early ideation to polished delivery, ensuring that every detail—from loading states to keyboard navigation—contributes to a trustworthy and delightful user experience. This role offers a unique opportunity to build foundational products in a nascent but high-impact category, with direct feedback from customers and significant growth potential. Qualifications Four or more years of professional frontend software engineering experience, ideally in companies with strong engineering practices.Proficiency in React, TypeScript, GraphQL (Apollo), and Playwright for testing and automation.Experience with state management solutions such as Apollo cache or equivalent.Understanding of API design and backend integration.Strong attention to detail in UI/UX, with a focus on performance and responsiveness.Excellent communication skills, especially in remote or distributed team environments.Curiosity about estate planning, trusts, and transfer taxes is a plus.Experience with debugging tools like PostHog and Sentry, and familiarity with sanity checks such as Meticulous is desirable.Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, product managers, and backend engineers. Responsibilities Develop and maintain AI-native frontend interfaces, including chat surfaces, ambient agents, and complex diagramming tools.Own and refine the frontend architecture, establishing component patterns, performance optimizations, and shared development primitives.Collaborate closely with product designers and stakeholders to shape user experiences and ensure design consistency.Implement features that enhance usability, such as loading behaviors, empty states, and keyboard navigation.Participate in code reviews, contribute to best practices, and ensure code quality and maintainability.Engage in continuous learning about estate planning domain concepts to improve interface relevance and clarity.Utilize debugging and analytics tools to monitor application performance and resolve issues promptly.Contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced environment that emphasizes innovation and user-centric design.
