Job Description: Senior Python Developer Location: Kathmandu, Nepal Employment Type: Full-Time Type of work: On-site Preferred /Hybrid Role overview We are looking for a highly capable Senior Python Developer to design, build and operate reliable backend applications and APIs. You will own significant technical work from requirements through production release, improve existing systems, and help set a high standard for engineering quality. This role suits a hands-on engineer who combines strong Python depth with sound judgment in system design, databases, security, testing, and production support. Responsibilities Design, build and maintain scalable Python backend services and APIs.Own features end to end clarify requirements, propose technical solutions, implement, test, deploy and support them in production.Design robust data models, SQL queries, migrations, and integrations with third-party services.Build reliable asynchronous, scheduled or background processing where needed.Improve performance, observability, security, reliability, and developer workflow across existing applications.Write clear, well-tested, maintainable code and perform thoughtful code reviews.Diagnose production issues and contribute to practical incident prevention.Collaborate effectively with product, frontend, QA and DevOps colleagues.Flexible to switch between different frameworks (FE/BE) according to the needMentor engineers and contribute to technical design decisions.Coordinate with team member to delegate/convey task or task progressDocument the product/feature/service along with development Required qualifications 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including strong recent experience building Python backend applications in production.Expert-level Python knowledge, including async programming, typing, testing, error handling and maintainable application design.Strong understanding of Python packaging, dependency management, virtual environments, and application configuration. Experience with Pydantic, SQLAlchemy or equivalent ORM/data-access libraries. Understanding of Python concurrency models, including asyncio, async I/O, and when to use synchronous vs asynchronous processing.Strong experience with FastAPI, Django or a comparable Python web framework; FastAPI experience is preferred.Strong understanding of API design principles, including versioning, pagination, idempotency, rate limiting, validation, error handling, and backward compatibility. Experience designing APIs that are onsumed by web/mobile clients and external systems.Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills: schema design, query performance, transactions, migrations and indexes.Experience with REST APIs, authentication/authorization, OAuth/OIDC and third-party API integrations.Experience with Redis, queues/background jobs, and scheduled processing.Strong automated testing practice across unit, integration and API tests.Experience using Docker, Git-based workflows, CI/CD automation, and cloud deployment.Experience contributing to engineering standards, coding guidelines, reusable components, and development practices.Good understanding of application security (OWASP), secrets management, logging, monitoring and production troubleshooting.Clear communication, ownership, and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders. Preferred qualifications Azure, AWS, or GCP production experience. Azure preferred.Experience with containers/orchestration, message queues, caching, and distributed systems.Experience with multi-tenant SaaS, data-intensive systems, or high-volume API integrations.Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design reviews. Nice To Have Experience with Celery, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging/task-processing systems. Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native deployments. Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent observability tooling. Experience with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code.
