Location: Remote within Malta Nomad Gate is looking for an experienced web developer to take charge of our web platform and help shape its technical direction. This is a remote role, but it is specifically Malta-based. You need to live in Malta—or be in the process of relocating—and intend to remain resident here long-term. The role Taking charge of the development of our web platform, which includes a web app (Next.js, Supabase), a forum (Discourse), and a content site (currently Jekyll, future is TBD).Migrating away from our current backend system, which relies too much on third-party services (Zapier, Pipedream, Airtable) and separate cloud functions (Google Cloud).Since we’re a small team, contributing to operational aspects of the business when needed is also expected. The ideal candidate You thrive when working independently, not reliant on anyone telling you what to do hour by hour.You have at least three years’ experience with modern web development, ideally including experience with React, Next.js, or similar frameworks.Experience with SQL, REST APIs, OAuth, etc is a plus. So is managing agents such as Claude Code and Codex.Strong ability to build performant websites and secure web apps.You see the bigger picture and have strong opinions about which direction we should go.Keen attention to detail. When you get to the animal question in the application, choose an animal with a connection to programming or software development.Strong English language and communication skills are a must. Knowledge of Maltese is a bonus, but not required.
