Senior Backend Developer

I am currently recruiting for a client of Koda tech who're scaling their development teams in Vejle, they're in need of 2x Senior Backend Developers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Backend development and maintenance - Design, implement and optimise server-side applications and database solutions supporting internal processes, employees and external partners. Maintain existing services and identify where individual components should be separated and rebuilt incrementally rather than through a full rewrite.Requirements discovery and scope definition - Work with business stakeholders in clear, non-technical language to understand needs and processes. Assess whether a request should be solved, reduce it to the work that creates genuine value, translate it into a technical approach and secure agreement on scope.Code review and quality assurance - Review colleagues' code, provide constructive feedback and uphold sound software engineering principles and team standards. Test changes systematically, identify failure scenarios and verify behaviour before deployment.Development process, version control and deployment - Establish and improve deployment pipelines, define effective Git practices and guide the team in applying them. Act as a reference point for dependable engineering workflows.Independent delivery and project ownership - Own assigned development work from idea through implementation, including technical planning, problem-solving and delivery of working solutions within agreed timeframes.Team contribution and knowledge sharing - Contribute to daily stand-ups, share technical knowledge and support the team through practical collaboration and best-practice guidance. Spread system knowledge to reduce dependency on individual team members. Tech: Extensive backend development experience - At least 10 years of hands-on backend and object-oriented development experience, including several years with PHP. Experience across other languages and platforms is considered an advantage.Large, complex codebases - Experience working in and improving extensive codebases with limited documentation and test coverage, where business logic is distributed between application code and the database.Modern frameworks - Experience building applications with a modern framework, including REST APIs and database integrations. Experience moving older procedural code incrementally onto a framework is advantageous.Database integration and SQL - Practical knowledge of relational databases, SQL queries and normalisation. Experience with query performance, indexing and business logic held in stored procedures.Version control and development tooling - Advanced Git experience, including branching strategy and review workflows, alongside experience setting up build and deployment pipelines.Containerisation - Production experience with Docker is required.
