Senior Software Engineer — AI & Backend Systems 📍 New York City — Hybrid, 4 days in office 💰 $230,000–$300,000 base + meaningful equity 🕐 Full-time A well-funded, rapidly growing Series A healthcare AI startup is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help scale the core systems behind an AI-powered clinical review platform. You’ll join a small engineering team at an important stage of growth, working directly with senior technical and product leadership. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership, where you’ll design fault-tolerant backend systems, build AI-driven data and document-processing workflows, and help establish engineering standards as the platform scales. What you’ll do Design and build scalable backend systems using Python, TypeScript, and AWS.Own complex projects from product requirements and architecture through production.Build data extraction, document-processing and API-driven workflows.Improve system reliability, observability and fault tolerance.Translate ambiguous business and customer needs into pragmatic technical solutions.Mentor engineers through code reviews and architectural guidance.Partner closely with product and customer-facing teams. What we’re looking for 6+ years of backend software engineering experience.Strong professional experience with Python, TypeScript, and AWS.At least 2 years at a venture-backed, high-growth startup.Experience building and scaling distributed systems in production.Clear end-to-end ownership of high-impact engineering projects.Strong systems-design fundamentals and ability to explain architectural trade-offs.Stable career progression, ideally including internal promotions.Excellent communication and a product-first approach.Ability to work from the NYC office Monday through Thursday.Existing permanent U.S. work authorization; visa sponsorship is not available.
