Senior Software Engineer - Pathway to Lead Location: Perth, Western Australia (George's Terrace) Workplace: Hybrid, 3 days onsite, 2 days from home, flexible on which two days Engagement: Permanent, full time, flexible working hours We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is ready to grow into a Lead role at Horizon Digital. Whether you are already coaching and mentoring juniors as a Senior, or you have had a taste of leadership and want more of it, this role is built to take you there. You will work across AI and software delivery for clients from Tier One enterprise accounts through to smaller engagements, with real support to step into owning technical direction for a team. The Team You will work closely with our Technology Manager and current engineering leads, with a clear runway toward owning technical direction for a team of your own. We are genuinely invested in growing our next generation of leads, so you will get real mentoring and support as you step up, not just a title change. What You Will Do Contribute production code across client projects, with growing input into architecture, tooling and technical decisionsCoach and support junior engineers through code review, pairing and day to day guidanceBuild toward owning estimates, technical direction and delivery quality on your projectsUse AI assisted development day to day, and help bring that practice to the rest of your team, not just your own workWork directly with clients on requirements and delivery, building the credibility to become a senior technical voice they trustTake on more formal leadership responsibilities as you are ready, reviews, objectives and technical ownership What We Are Looking For Some experience coaching or mentoring junior engineers already, with a genuine want to take that further into leadershipSolid hands on experience across Python, TypeScript, React and AWS, Terraform a bonusReal interest in AI assisted development, ideally some experience embedding it into how you or your team worksComfortable with CI/CD, automated testing and monitoring as normal practiceConfident communicating with clients and translating technical detail into plain termsCurious and keen to grow, someone who wants ownership, not just a bigger title Desirable Background Some exposure to agentic systems or LLM powered products, even at a proof of concept stageExperience with React Native, Flutter or PHPExposure to large enterprise or Tier One client environmentsExposure to GCP or other cloud platforms Why Horizon Digital A genuine, supported path from Senior into Lead, not just a title on paperJoin a Perth based AI and custom software consultancy building production grade AI for Tier One clients across mining, energy, finance, healthcare and governmentWork at the front edge of AI assisted engineering, and help shape the standards the whole team usesHybrid working from George's Terrace, 3 days onsite and 2 from home, with flexible hoursAWS Generative AI Competency Partner How to Apply ⤵️ If this sounds like you, please apply or email Thana@horizondigital.au
