Senior Full Stack Engineer

A Senior Engineer is part of a key team of the client technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical, and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems, and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope and accountability at this level is responsible for the quality of a team’s work, ensuring that all designs are clear and complete for successful execution. This level can undertake complex design and problem solving without supervision. We are a fast-growing team with the vision to optimize Nordstrom digital experiences. Responsibilities A day in the life: Design and collaborate with local and partner teams.Participate and contribute to the agile development and planning process.Write highly maintainable, easy-to-understand code for RESTful Services, event-driven systems, databases, and cloud infrastructure following secure coding practices.Demonstrate a foundational understanding of standards, concepts, and principles of engineering to solve the practical needs of the business.Design complex systems at the organization level with up/downstream dependencies and understand business metrics for the organization.Mentor other engineers and help them split larger designs into individual work units.Design and validate all scenarios conform to code quality through complete and automated unit, functional, integration, and end-end testing.Identify and prevent performance issues, optimize solutions and infrastructure, and lead cross-functional troubleshooting.Instrument code appropriately, creating custom metrics, alerts, and dashboards.Ensure adherence to Engineering best practices across the entire solution.Collaborate with other software engineers on design and best practices and conduct code reviews.Understand tradeoffs in types of engineering processes and adjust a team process to meet the project’s needs.Test all scenarios and conform to quality and security standards Participate in design and code review to ensure quality and testability of feature.Your responsibilities... Delivering full stack features (design, implementation, and support)Working across the full stack of technologies (Web UI, APIs, and Infrastructure)Building reusable cross-platform components for future useTranslating written requirements, designs and wireframes into high quality codeWork with diverse, collaborative, cross-functional teams Skills Required Bachelor’s or master’s degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience4+ years of professional experience in developing REST-ful services and Event-driven applicationsSolid foundation in software engineering practices, data modeling, object-oriented analysis and design, design patterns, and algorithmsExperience with Web UI development using JavaScript (React, Redux, Node.JS, TypeScript)Experience using Java / Spring BootExperience using AWS services such as Kubernetes, Elastic Cache Redis, DynamoDB, Lambda, CloudFormation, etc., or features on other similar cloud hosted platforms.Familiarity with Linux/Docker and open source software development.Familiarity with test automation and CI/CD pipelinesFamiliarity with Kubernetes, New Relic and SplunkStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiencesPassion for new technologies, operational excellence and customer impact.
