Java Software Engineer

Mandatory / Core Technical Knowledge Candidates should demonstrate excellent knowledge of: • Java 17 • Spring Framework / Spring Boot • JPA / Hibernate • SQL • Design and implementation of REST APIs Strong Experience Required Candidates should demonstrate strong professional experience with: • Apache Kafka or other messaging technologies • Maven • JUnit • CI/CD pipelines • Git Core Competencies • Strong Java backend development expertise. • Strong knowledge of Spring-based enterprise application development. • Ability to design robust and scalable backend architectures. • Strong understanding of object-oriented development and software engineering principles. • Experience designing and implementing RESTful services. • Strong database and SQL knowledge. • Experience with asynchronous messaging and event-driven architectures. • Strong automated testing practices. • Experience working within CI/CD environments. • Ability to review code and enforce development standards. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical and production issues. • Ability to take ownership of technical decisions. • Experience mentoring and coordinating developers. • Strong communication and collaboration capabilities. • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams. • Strong focus on software quality, security, performance and maintainability. Nice to Have • Previous experience in the financial services or banking sector. • Azure DevOps. • Liquibase. • SOAP web services. • Previous experience within the European Investment Bank, European Investment Fund or another European institution. • Experience developing business-critical or financial applications. • Experience working in complex institutional environments. • Experience providing second-line production support. • Experience with Agile or structured software delivery environments.
