Project Description: Your Role We’re building ACQA, a cloud-native analytics and risk platform supporting business-specific applications and services. Python is at its core, complemented by Java, Scala, and modern big data technologies. We are looking for strong software engineers with different backgrounds. You might be a Python expert with knowledge of financial derivatives and risk, a Scala or PySpark specialist working with complex datasets, or a Java engineer interested in learning Python. Your Team You’ll join the ACQA Engines Crew, part of the IB Risk Technology Stream under CDIO. ACQA — Advanced Cloud Quantitative Analytics — is a strategic cloud-based Analytics and Risk platform. Our team includes approximately 60 engineers across multiple global locations, working in agile and autonomous pods. We collaborate directly with traders, risk managers, and finance users to deliver solutions supporting the investment bank's Risk and P&L. Responsibilities: Your Expertise You have a strong software engineering mindset and experience building robust, production-grade software. You understand software design principles, testing, and the importance of quality in a fast-paced environment. Strong written and spoken communication skills are essential. You’ll have experience in some of the following: Python development and testing at scale. Java, Scala, or other JVM technologies. Spark or PySpark and processing large, complex datasets. Financial derivatives, risk, pricing, and front-to-back processes. AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot. Cloud-based systems, ideally Microsoft Azure. Web-based UI frameworks would be an advantage. A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills, including Python. You are: A passionate engineer who enjoys building high-quality software. DevOps-minded and interested in improving the developer experience. Collaborative and willing to share knowledge with others. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
