Front-End Software Engineer

We’re looking for a Front-end leaning Software Engineer to join our Experience Tribe in Newcastle. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building high-quality, user-facing features, cares about clean and reusable code, and wants to work closely with product and other engineers to bring ideas to life. This is a hybrid role that requires you to be in our Newcastle upon Tyne office two days a week. Please apply only if you’re comfortable with this arrangement. What You'll Be Doing Building and evolving user-facing features using modern frontend technologiesWriting clean, reusable and scalable code that stands the test of timeWorking closely with Product and other engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible and well-implementedOptimising applications for performance, responsiveness and scalabilityContributing to documentation and shared knowledge, helping the whole team move fasterTaking part in Scrum ceremonies and collaborating openly within your teamReviewing code, sharing feedback and supporting high engineering standardsDebugging and problem-solving across frontend applications What We Are Looking For Strong experience with HTML, CSS (including SASS) and JavaScriptExperience working with JavaScript frameworks, ideally React Native with TypeScriptComfortable consuming RESTful APIs and working with JSONConfident building responsive, iOS and Android applicationsExperience incorporating AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude or similar) into the software development workflow to accelerate delivery, enhance code quality and improve productivityExperience with asset build tools and frontend toolingSolid understanding of Git and version control workflowsA good grasp of accessibility, web standards and UX best practicesExperience reviewing code and sharing knowledge with othersA practical, problem-solving mindset and the ability to debug effectivelyHappy working independently on tasks while also collaborating as part of a team What We Can Offer You Here at Bede, we offer a competitive salary and a strong benefits package, but what really matters to us is creating an environment where people feel trusted, supported and able to do their best work.
