Clune Tech is a world-leading provider of international taxation, finance, and fulfilment services to clients in over 100 countries ranging from blue-chip financial service companies to individual investors & cross-border workers.
Sprintax, part of Clune Tech, is a web-based tax return preparation software that provides a number of tax related services to non-residents in the United States.
We help thousands of international visitors such as students, scholars, teachers, trainees, researchers, work and travel participants and other foreign individuals that are temporary in the United States each year with the preparation of their tax returns.
We are looking for PHP Developer who will be responsible for the design, development, configuration, and maintenance of applications, services, and their related databases in the back-end part of the company’s systems.
The role covers the entire development lifecycle – requirements analysis, solution preparation, implementation and testing of changes, as well as support and optimization of existing systems.
The employee works in close collaboration with other developers, software testing specialists, and business stakeholders to provide reliable, secure, and efficient solutions within agreed timelines.
Responsibilities:
Back-end design, development & maintenance
Develops, enhances, and maintains applications, services, and components in the back-end part, using appropriate server technologies.Analyses requirements and implements solutions jointly with stakeholders and the development team.Designs and implements APIs, integrations, and business logic in a structured, clear, and reusable manner.Maintains and reworks existing code to improve stability, maintainability, and performance.Takes responsibility for planning, implementing, and testing software changes according to agreed business needs.
Databases, configuration & optimization:
Develops and maintains relational databases supporting the applications and services, including by creating and optimising queries.Participates in modelling and evolving the structure of applications and databases.Configures and optimises applications and data access for performance, reliability, and data integrity.
System operation, support & diagnostics:
Monitors the correct operation of back-end services and, when necessary, participates in incident handling and resolution.Analyses arising issues, performs fixes, and assists in minimising disruption for internal users and systems.Provides technical guidance and answers questions related to the area of responsibility.
Testing, quality & documentation:
Tests and evaluates developed software to confirm its reliability, compatibility, and effectiveness.Performs corrections and re-checks to ensure identified defects are removed.Maintains the necessary technical documentation, including implementation notes, handover information, and internal reports.
Collaboration & delivery:
Works jointly with other developers and software testing specialists for effective task execution within agreed timelines.Communicates clearly with colleagues and stakeholders to clarify needs and propose practical technical solutions.Informs the line manager in a timely manner about progress, risks, and arising questions that may affect timelines.Supports knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members when needed.
Additional responsibilities:
Works with internal and external information with the required care and confidentiality.Does not misuse official access granted in connection with the position.Complies with internal policies, internal work rules, and occupational health and safety requirements.Assists in maintaining good coordination and professional collaboration within the team.Performs other tasks assigned by the line manager or employer when they relate to the nature of the job, correspond to the employee’s qualification, and are within agreed job duties.
Requirements:
At least 1 year of professional experience in back-end development.Very good knowledge of at least one language or framework for back-end development, as well as good server-side development practices;Very good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and principles for clean and maintainable code;Experience with relational databases, data modelling, SQL, and query optimisation;Understanding of REST APIs and integration models, as well as knowledge of layered architecture and services;Very good command of English – written and spoken;High attention to detail, responsibility, and ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality;Good communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders in an international environment.
Preferred:
Higher education; advantage is education in computer science, software engineering, informatics, or a related specialty.Experience with modern frameworks and working models, e.g., .NET Core, Laravel, Symfony, or equivalent.Experience with Git and standard branching and code review processes.Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.Experience in SaaS, high-load environments, or products with high compliance requirements.
