The Role

Key/Main Responsibilities
Develop and maintain web applications across the full stack, including front-end and back-end technologies.Design user interactions on web pages, ensuring responsiveness and seamless user experiences.Collaborate with the design team to implement visual elements into web applications.Build scalable and optimised databases, integrating data from various sources.Write clean and efficient code using languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Node.js, PHP.
or Django.Conduct testing and debugging to ensure application functionality and security.Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends for continuous improvement.Work in an agile environment, participating in code reviews and providing technical guidance to team members.A desire to make a sustainable world and better future for all.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor Degree in a relevant field OR minimum of 2 years of equivalent commercial experience.Experience with the following:Responsive design for mobile and desktop (with graphic design/UX/UI team)Optimisation of codebase and cross-platform compatibilityServer/Tracking technologies: Docker, Git, VStudio, CentOS, Win ProCoding technologies: Python, PHP, JS/JQuery, Node.js, HTML/CSS, PostgreSQL

Role Description The Volunteer Full Stack Developer will support the development and enhancement of the THRIVE platform, working on both front-end and back-end components to deliver secure, efficient, and user-friendly features.
Day-to-day tasks include implementing new functionality, maintaining existing codebases, debugging and resolving technical issues, and optimizing performance across the stack.
The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to translate sustainability concepts and analytics into clear, accessible digital tools and dashboards.
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Adelaide, SA, requiring regular participation in team meetings, code reviews, and planning sessions to ensure alignment with project goals.
Qualifications
Proficiency in Full-Stack Development and Software Development, with experience building and maintaining web applications end-to-end.Strong Back-End Web Development skills, including designing APIs, managing databases, and ensuring application security and scalability.Solid Front-End Development skills, with the ability to create responsive interfaces and deliver intuitive user experiences.Hands-on experience with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for layout, styling, and maintaining consistent design across the platform.Familiarity with modern web frameworks and tools (e.g., JavaScript frameworks, version control systems such as Git, and CI/CD practices).Ability to analyze requirements, document technical solutions, and collaborate effectively within a diverse, mission-driven team.Interest in sustainability, data-driven decision-making, and using technology to support positive social and environmental impact.Relevant education or equivalent practical experience in computer science, software engineering, or related fields is advantageous.
