Backend Engineer

A hands-on backend engineering role: own backend capability in Manila, build with AI, and help ship enterprise AI products fast. Makati-based, global team. WHO WE ARE Enterprise AI is a Sydney startup helping organisations put AI to work — properly. We're a small, sharp team across Sydney, Manila and New York, and we build the way we tell our clients to: AI agents do a large share of the engineering work, and humans direct, review and ship. THE ROLE We're looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our Manila team and become a strong backend go-to locally. Our stack has grown quickly, so we need someone who can work independently, understand a complex environment fast, and contribute across backend development, cloud infrastructure and AI-enabled products. This is an AI-native engineering environment. We care less about manually writing every line of code and more about strong planning, technical judgement, review and production quality. YOU WILL Build and maintain backend services using Python, FastAPI/Flask and TypeScript/NodeDesign and work with APIs, databases and microservicesWork across Azure services including containers, storage, configuration and APIsBuild and support AI-enabled backend services using LLMs, RAG and OpenAI technologiesDeploy and operate software in productionWork with CI/CD, DevOps and data managementReview AI-generated code and make sure what we ship is secure, reliable and maintainableWork closely with engineers across Manila and SydneyGet across our architecture quickly and become a trusted backend point of contact for the Manila team YOU 3+ years in software engineeringStrong Python experienceExperience with FastAPI and/or FlaskExperience with JavaScript, TypeScript or Node.jsStrong SQL and/or NoSQL fundamentalsHands-on Microsoft Azure experienceHave deployed real software into productionComfortable with GitHub and CI/CDExperience with RAG, LLMs, OpenAI or similar AI technologiesComfortable using AI coding tools and reviewing AI-generated workLearn quickly and enjoy working in a fast-moving startup environment NICE TO HAVE Azure AI FoundryAI orchestration and prompt engineeringPayloadCMSRBAC / OPAReact / Next.jsClaude Code, Codex or similar AI development toolsDevOps / AIOpsSolution architecture experienceIdentity, infrastructure and security knowledge WORKING WITH US This role is based in Manila, with 2 days per week working from our Makati office.
