About the role: As a Lead Software Engineer (Front-End) at Mantel, you will enjoy working on a diverse and exciting range of projects. Your day to day: Thrive in our collaborative, flat-structured environment, where your day-to-day work is all about teamwork and shared decision-makingWork on greenfield projects for Australia’s biggest household names and develop high-quality code that can function with existing code, patterns and architectural techniquesImplement technology solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements and expectations utilising development best practices such as CI/CD and test integrationsLead the team in agile development practices as well as knowledge sharing sessions with other team membersEnsure appropriate quality is maintained through practices such as unit testingDesign systems that can be managed effectively in production environmentsChampion the adoption and evolution of AI-assisted development tools across teams and projectsDesign and implement team-wide agentic coding workflows (setup-plan-act) that integrate with existing development practicesEstablish team standards for shared context management, prompt libraries and reusable agentic patternsMentor engineers at all levels on effective AI-human collaboration in software developmentHelp our clients maintain and run reliable applications and systemsUse professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our five Mantel principles What you’ll need to be successful: Solid experience building rich applications with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue.js & Node.js.Strong experience using testing frameworks such as Jest and Cypress and integrating these with CI/CDStrong technical and team leadership having both led the technical direction on projects and also software engineering teamsExperience in developing applications on both 'greenfield' projects & existing applications.Experience with agentic coding tools and ability to lead team adoptionExperience architecting development workflows that integrate AI assistance with human expertiseUnderstanding of AI code generation security and quality assurance frameworksProven experience establishing team ways of working with agentic tools, including:Shared context repositories and knowledge managementPrompt engineering standards and librariesKnowledge of common productivity tools such as Gulp/Webpack & GIT source control.Experience with functional programming and CI/CD.A good understanding of modern development frameworks, industry trends and best practice.At Mantel, we want you to be yourself.
