Lead Backend Engineer – PHP / Adobe Commerce (Magento 2)

Overview / Summary We are seeking a Lead Backend Engineer with 8+ years of backend development experience and strong expertise in PHP and Adobe Commerce/Magento 2. This role requires deep experience with Magento APIs, GraphQL, REST APIs, event-driven architecture, cloud-native services, performance optimization, automated testing, and production support. The selected candidate will serve as a senior hands-on technical lead, mentor engineers, and partner closely with the Architect on implementation decisions. Required Qualifications: 8+ years of backend development experience.Strong PHP and Adobe Commerce/Magento 2 expertise.Deep experience with Magento APIs, GraphQL resolvers, modules, services, plugins, observers, cron jobs, and message-queue consumers.Strong experience building REST/GraphQL APIs and service layers.Experience integrating with catalog, pricing, inventory, promotions, customer/identity, PIM, ERP, and OMS platforms.Strong event-driven architecture and messaging experience, preferably with RabbitMQ or similar asynchronous messaging platforms.Experience with AWS/cloud-native services, caching, databases, queues, observability, and distributed-system troubleshooting.Strong understanding of Magento performance and high-volume catalog/order workloads.Experience building middleware/adapters for phased commerce migrations.Strong automated testing, CI/CD, code-review, debugging, and production-support experience.Experience serving as a senior hands-on technical lead and mentoring engineers.
