Description

About Enery At Enery, we're powering the future…literally. We are an independent renewable energy provider dedicated to delivering reliable, affordable, and long-term green energy to our customers. We have scaled rapidly to over 1.1 GW of operating capacity, with a development pipeline of close to 10 GW across around 10 CEE countries — alongside a leading position in revenue optimization for utility-scale renewable and storage assets. Present in 10 countries across Central and Eastern Europe, our reach reflects our commitment to making a meaningful climate impact across the region. But we're more than just energy and infrastructure. With a diverse, multidisciplinary team representing over 30 nationalities, we value transparency, ownership, and continuous learning. We move fast, collaborate across disciplines, and celebrate wins, big and small, together. At Enery, ESG isn't a checkbox. It's embedded into every decision we make, from project development and construction to long-term operations. As a Backend Engineer, you will join Enery's growing IT and Data team building our internal platform. You will work alongside senior engineers in Vienna and Sofia, on production code from your first sprint. Key Responsibilities Ship features on the platform backend and Data modules — from small end-to-end tickets in your first months, to larger subsystems as you grow into the rolePort existing dashboards and workflows onto the platformExtend Snowflake / dbt data models under the guidance of the Data Team LeadOwn tickets end-to-end: understand the requirement, ask the questions that unblock you early, ship the code, take the feedback, iteratePair with senior engineers on the harder work — authentication, access control, system integrations — and take those responsibilities on as you become readyParticipate in code review — both directions. We expect you to review the senior engineers' code as much as they review yours.Grow into the team's on-call rotation. The platform is operated by the team that builds it. You are not a primary on-call owner at the start: you learn the runbooks, you shadow the incidents, and you take your turn once you and we agree you are ready. Key Requirements 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent through internships / open-source / a strong bootcamp portfolioComfortable in Python and a relational databaseBasic frontend familiarity — enough to build a usable page — because full-stack ownership is how we workUnderstanding of Git, code review, and CI/CD in principle; hands-on experience is nice, not requiredGenuine curiosity — you read the code around your task, you ask why not just what, you push back when something doesn't add upProfessional proficiency in English.Professional proficiency in other European is considered an advantage but is not mandatory. Nice-to-Haves Experience in the energy sector, and with any energy platform — trading, monitoring, forecasting or SCADA — is a big plusAny exposure to Snowflake, dbt, AWS, or another cloud data stackExperience shipping a small side project or contributing to an open-source project — bonus points if we can look at the codeAny exposure to operating what you build — an on-call shift, a monitoring dashboard, a production incident you helped resolve Why join Enery?
