Welcome to Group Technology, where we pride ourselves on engineering solutions and driving Nordea’s transformation by providing a holistic technological view and structured understanding of the bank and its environment to enable the Customer Vision and Business Strategy.
In Nordea, we're harnessing the power of technology to reinvent the future of banking.
A tech revolution is underway – and you can make an impact.
Working in international team in an inspiring working environment, you'll have lots of opportunities to expand your skills and advance your career.
Nordea is a place where traditions meet tomorrow.
We’re not just a bank; we’re a tech employer on a mission to evolve finance securely and responsibly.
Together, we impact millions of people’s daily lives by ensuring they can access our solutions anytime, anywhere, while safeguarding their personal data and wealth.
Join us in making an impact on the banking industry.
About Our Team
We are part of the Middle Office Service Domain, which is a crucial part of Investment Banking area of Nordea, responsible for market data, valuations, P&L and collateral.
In our Valuation and Collateral product, we have 3 scrum teams, each focused on a specific product area (Prices, Valuations, Collateral).
We are looking for an Engineer in Prices team.
This role is based in Finland and Poland.
About This Opportunity
The Prices team is responsible for sourcing market prices and curves from multiple external sources (Reuters, Bloomberg, etc.), validating them, selecting the authoritative ("golden") price, and publishing controlled datasets to downstream systems via Apache Kafka and REST APIs.
We're currently rewriting the legacy Common Revaluation Data (CRD) system — which has long owned this price data — into a modern platform built on Streamlit (fast UI prototyping), Java/Spring Boot (backend workflows), Kubernetes (infrastructure), and Oracle, migrating to PostgreSQL in the future.
What Makes This Different
You'll join a focused team where senior engineers drive technical direction.
Your decisions will shape architecture, tooling, and delivery.
You'll work with AI as a core part of the engineering practice, not a buzzword and you'll see the impact of your work immediately—this is a team where leadership is shown through execution.
You own the full picture.
From understanding the business requirement to designing the solution, building it, testing it, deploying it, and making sure it runs in production.
Activities may involve:
Take requirements directly from the Product Owner, challenge them, refine them, and turn them into working software Make architectural decisions that shape how the system evolves — not just today, but for the next 3 years Review code daily — raise the bar for the entire team, not just your own output Drive the Kubernetes migration and cloud-native transformation of existing services Question, simplify, eliminate, automate — if a process shouldn't exist, don't optimise it.
If it should, make it effortless.Build and refine AI/agentic workflows that multiply the team's output Mentor and pair-program with other developers — make the team stronger, not just yourself Communicate directly with business stakeholders — translate complexity into clarity Own production incidents when they happen — diagnose, fix, prevent recurrence
How We Work With AI
AI isn't a nice-to-have here.
It's how we work.
We use GitHub Copilot with agentic capabilities daily — not just for autocomplete, but for real development workflows.
We treat AI output like a pull request from a capable but fallible teammate — you review it critically and take responsibility for what is shipped.
You should already have experience working with AI-assisted development and a clear opinion on where it excels and where it fails.
If you're still waiting for someone to tell you how to use AI — this isn't the role for you.
Who You Are
You're solution oriented. When you see a problem, your instinct is to fix it — not to document it, escalate it, or wait for someone else to notice.
You don't need permission to improve things. You're proactive. You see issues forming before they become incidents.
You propose improvements nobody asked for.
You speak up in meetings when something doesn't make sense — even when it's uncomfortable. You communicate with clarity. You can explain a complex system to a business stakeholder in two minutes.
You write documentation that actually helps.
Your Jira tickets tell a complete story. You're resilient. Ambiguity doesn't paralyze you.
Pressure doesn't make you cut corners.
When things break at an inconvenient time, you stay calm, diagnose, and fix.You take ownership. If it's in your scope, it's your responsibility until it's done — from the first conversation with business to the monitoring dashboard confirming it works in production.
Don’t apply if:
You wait to be told what to do.
We don't have time to manage you — we need you to manage yourself. You think AI is a fad or a threat.
It's neither.
It's the tool that multiplies your impact.
If you're not using it, you're falling behind. You only want to write code.
This role requires talking to people, understanding business, and making decisions — not just implementing tickets. You want a stable, unchanging environment.
We're transforming everything.
If that stresses you out, this isn't the place. You throw work over the wall.
"I wrote the code, deployment is ops' problem" — that mindset doesn't survive here.
Your background and skills include:
5+ years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer Expert Java, Spring Boot, Project Reactor Kafka, JMS, or equivalent event-driven messaging REST API design and implementation Oracle or other RDBMS (query performance, not just ORM) Clean Code, SOLID, design patterns, testable architecture Docker and containerization CI/CD pipelines (built and maintained, not just triggered) AI-assisted development (Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or equivalent) Good English, both written and spoken
It would be ideal if you also have:
Kubernetes and cloud-native patterns Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, or similar) Observability tooling (Grafana, InfluxDB, Splunk) Banking or finance domain experience Atlassian stack (Jira, Bamboo, Confluence, Bitbucket)
