Mid-Level DevSecOps EngineerLocation: MUST BE LOCAL - Washington, DC Metro Area - Hybrid Onsite: Approximately 2 days per week Employment: Full-Time Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain a Federal Public Trust determination Position OverviewWe are seeking a Mid-Level DevSecOps Engineer to support the development and delivery of mission-critical technology solutions within a federal government environment. This is a hands-on engineering role working as part of an integrated, cross-functional team that may include software developers, DevSecOps engineers, data scientists, business analysts, QA engineers, and other technical specialists. The ideal candidate brings practical AWS experience, strong infrastructure automation and CI/CD capabilities, and an understanding of how security must be incorporated throughout the application delivery lifecycle. This role requires more than the ability to provision infrastructure. Candidates should understand how infrastructure, applications, security, and deployment processes work together to deliver a complete solution. What You’ll DoDesign, deploy, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure within Amazon Web Services (AWS)Build and manage infrastructure using AWS CloudFormationDevelop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelinesAutomate infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, configuration, and operational processesIntegrate security controls and practices throughout the software development and deployment lifecycleSupport applications operating within a Zero Trust security environmentWork closely with developers to ensure infrastructure is designed and configured appropriately for application requirementsTroubleshoot infrastructure, application deployment, configuration, and environment issuesSupport both new system development and existing production applicationsParticipate in security implementation, validation, and testing activitiesCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and client teams to solve technical problemsContribute to architecture and implementation discussions rather than simply executing predefined tasksAdapt solutions as requirements and client priorities evolveRequired QualificationsApproximately 4-6 years of relevant DevSecOps, cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related experienceStrong hands-on experience with AWSPractical experience deploying and managing AWS infrastructureHands-on experience with AWS CloudFormation / Infrastructure as CodeExperience building, maintaining, or supporting CI/CD pipelinesExperience with infrastructure and deployment automationUnderstanding of secure software development and deployment practicesPractical knowledge of implementing and testing security controlsFamiliarity with Zero Trust security principlesStrong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skillsAbility to work effectively within an integrated development and engineering teamAbility to apply technical knowledge to new or changing problems rather than relying solely on predefined proceduresStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting technology solutions within a federal government or other highly regulated environmentExperience integrating cloud infrastructure directly with application development and deploymentScripting or software development experience, particularly PythonExperience supporting production cloud applicationsFamiliarity with federal security and compliance requirementsPrevious experience working within multidisciplinary Agile or software delivery teamsExperience communicating technical concepts to client stakeholdersWhat Success Looks LikeThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate practical technical capability, not simply familiarity with DevSecOps terminology or AWS services. You should be able to explain systems you have personally built, deployed, configured, or supported; describe the technical decisions you made; troubleshoot problems in real time; and apply your experience to unfamiliar scenarios. Candidates should expect a technically rigorous interview process that may include a live technical challenge designed to evaluate practical application of the skills represented on the candidate’s résumé.
