Description

About Enery At Enery, we're powering the future…literally. We are an independent renewable energy provider dedicated to delivering reliable, affordable, and long-term green energy to our customers. We have scaled rapidly to over 1.1 GW of operating capacity, with a development pipeline of close to 10 GW across around 10 CEE countries — alongside a leading position in revenue optimization for utility-scale renewable and storage assets. Present in 10 countries across Central and Eastern Europe, our reach reflects our commitment to making a meaningful climate impact across the region. But we're more than just energy and infrastructure. With a diverse, multidisciplinary team representing over 30 nationalities, we value transparency, ownership, and continuous learning. We move fast, collaborate across disciplines, and celebrate wins, big and small, together. At Enery, ESG isn't a checkbox. It's embedded into every decision we make, from project development and construction to long-term operations. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own the backend and integration layer of our internal platform — the system that connects a renewable fleet, a data warehouse, and the tools our teams work in every day. This is a hands-on senior role: you set the architecture and you write the code. Key Responsibilities Own the platform backend: identity, access control, logging, and the shared service layer the business tools depend onDesign and build the integrations that connect the platform to our data warehouse, our cloud estate, and external systems (Microsoft 365, upstream data providers)Build the integration layer to our plants and to the market: plant telemetry over industrial protocols on one side, energy-exchange and market-data APIs on the otherSet architectural direction on API design, service boundaries, authentication, secrets management, and how future modules plug inWork closely with the Data team on the read path from Snowflake into the platform, and with DevOps on deployment, observability, and the CI/CD pipelineMentor developers across the team — via code review, pairing, and the standards you set in the shared codebaseOwn on-call rotation for the backend once the platform is live in production, with a small enough footprint that on-call is genuinely infrequent Key Requirements 7+ years of professional backend experience, at least 3 of them seniorStrong Python for long-running services — async / ASGI (FastAPI or similar), background workers, schedulers and queuesExperience operating always-on systems in production: idempotent retries, graceful restarts, structured logging and alerting, and the on-call instincts that go with themWorking knowledge of at least one industrial or real-time protocol — Modbus TCP, OPC UA or IEC 60870-5-104 — and the judgement to own an integration layer built on themWorking experience in at least one statically typed, compiled language (Go, Rust, Java or similar) alongside Python — our platform is Python today and will likely stay that way, but we want engineers who have built outside it and can say whyDeep familiarity with relational databases; experience with an analytical warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) is a plusProduction experience with a major cloud provider (AWS preferred), including infrastructure-as-code, IAM design, and secrets managementHands-on experience with SSO / IAM (MSAL, Entra ID, Cognito, or similar), including where the edge cases liveAPI design instinct — REST or GraphQL — with an eye for versioning, backwards compatibility and error contractsProfessional proficiency in EnglishProfessional proficiency in other European is considered an advantage but is not mandatory Nice-to-Haves Experience in the energy sector, and with any energy platform — trading, monitoring, forecasting or SCADA — is a big plusIntegration of an energy-exchange or trading-venue API (Nord Pool, EPEX, ENTSO-E or comparable) — order and trade flows, not only market dataDepth in industrial protocols beyond the basics: SCADA gateways, PPC setpoints, time-series at plant resolutionExperience integrating a Microsoft 365 tenant (Graph API, Entra, SharePoint) into a custom platformFamiliarity with dbt / the analytics-engineering stackPrior experience in a growing internal-platform team where the conventions are still being written Why join Enery?
