Junior Software Engineer - Traineeship

That's why we're looking for ambitious Junior Software Engineers who want to kick-start their career, learn from experienced engineers and work on software that is actually used by our customers and teams. Our Software Engineering Traineeship combines the best of both worlds: two days a week focused on learning and building from scratch, and three days working as a Software Engineer in one of our product teams. What you'll do Two days a week, you'll work together with the other trainees on something exciting: building an entirely new platform for Mogelijk from the ground up. This gives you the opportunity to experience what it takes to build software from scratch. You'll make technical choices, solve real engineering problems and learn how to build software that is maintainable, scalable and ready for the future. You won't do this alone. You'll be closely guided by Mogelijk's technical leadership, including our Lead Developers and CTO. They'll challenge you, review your work and help you develop the engineering skills and mindset you need to become a great Software Engineer. The other three days, you'll join one of our product teams: Borrowers, Investors or Platform. Here, you'll work alongside experienced Software Engineers, Product Managers and other colleagues on real products and real challenges. You'll contribute code from the start and see directly how the software you build impacts our customers and the business. This combination means you'll continuously be able to apply what you learn to a real production environment – and take the experience from your product team back into the platform you're building with the other trainees. Learning to engineer with AI AI is changing Software Engineering, and we believe learning how to use it effectively is becoming an essential part of being a great engineer. That's why AI will play an important role throughout the traineeship. You'll learn how to use AI to help you understand problems, explore solutions, write and review code and become more productive. But we're not looking for someone who simply lets AI generate the answer. We want you to develop a strong understanding of when to use AI, how to challenge its output and when not to use it. Our goal is to help you become an engineer who combines strong technical fundamentals with the ability to use modern AI tools effectively and responsibly. Who you are We're not expecting you to already be an experienced Software Engineer – that's exactly why this traineeship exists. What we're looking for is potential, curiosity and a genuine interest in technology and Software Engineering. You enjoy figuring out how things work, solving problems and learning new technologies. You're not afraid to ask questions, but you're also someone who likes to investigate and try things yourself. You bring: A completed HBO or university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another relevant technical fieldA solid foundation in programming and software development, gained through your studies, internships, personal projects or first professional experience.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.A genuine interest in Software Engineering and the motivation to continuously improve your technical skills.Curiosity about AI and how it can be used to become a better and more effective Software Engineer.A proactive attitude and willingness to ask questions, experiment, make mistakes and learn from them. Our technology Depending on the product and problem you're working on, you'll get exposure to technologies including PHP (Laravel), Python, JavaScript, Vue, Snowflake and Cloud technologies. You'll learn how these technologies are used in a real production environment and how different applications, data and systems come together to support Mogelijk's products. More importantly, you'll learn the principles behind good Software Engineering: writing clean and maintainable code, making thoughtful technical decisions, working with data, testing your work and building software as part of a team. What success looks like We don't expect you to know everything when you start. We expect you to learn quickly, stay curious and become a better engineer every week. Throughout the traineeship, you'll gradually take on more ownership and tackle increasingly complex engineering challenges. You'll learn from experienced developers, your fellow trainees and the real-world problems you encounter within your product team. At the same time, you and the other trainees will turn an idea into a working new platform for Mogelijk – giving you the opportunity to experience the full journey of building a software product from the ground up. By the end of the traineeship, our goal is simple: for you to have developed the technical skills, engineering mindset and practical experience to continue growing as a Software Engineer at Mogelijk.
