Senior Software Engineer

Duration: September 15, 2026 – March 31, 2027 Work Arrangement: Onsite – Monday to Friday Openings: 4 We are seeking Senior Software Developers to join a large public-sector technology environment supporting complex enterprise applications and systems. The successful candidates will bring extensive experience in full-stack, multi-tier application development, systems integration, solution design, and technical leadership. This is an onsite opportunity in Toronto, requiring strong hands-on development capabilities combined with the ability to lead technical discussions, resolve complex issues, and collaborate with business analysts, testers, technical teams, and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Analyze business and technical requirements in collaboration with Business Analysts and project stakeholders.Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical solution architecture and technical design artifacts.Develop and integrate enterprise-level system components using modern and open-standard technologies.Perform full-stack development across multi-tier applications and system components.Design, develop, consume, and integrate REST APIs and SOAP/WSDL web services.Work with JSON/XML messaging and integrate applications with third-party solutions and services.Develop and maintain user interfaces using web components, UI libraries, and frameworks.Participate in architecture checkpoints, solution design reviews, and technical walkthroughs.Conduct code reviews and design walkthroughs to ensure technical quality and adherence to standards.Develop and execute unit and integration testing, including test cases and expected results.Collaborate with system testers on functional, performance, and vulnerability testing.Troubleshoot, debug, refactor, and optimize complex applications and system components.Identify technical issues and coordinate their resolution with internal teams and external service providers.Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, system documentation, and user guides.Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer to developers, system analysts, testers, and project team members.Support estimation, planning, and delivery of complex IT initiatives.Ensure solutions meet applicable security, privacy, architecture, quality, and IT standards. Required Qualifications & Experience 10+ years of experience in IT systems development within complex, multi-platform environments.Strong experience with Java, JEE/J2EE, and enterprise application development.Extensive experience with full-stack, multi-tier solutions and enterprise-level systems integration.Strong hands-on experience with: REST APIs / RESTful services, SOAP / WSDL web services, JSON / XML, EJB, JNDI, JDBC, JMS, JSP / Servlets, Struts, Tomcat, WebSphere and/or WebLogic, Oracle RDBMS and PL/SQLExperience integrating applications with third-party systems and services.Experience with web components and UI libraries/frameworks.Experience using development and design tools such as IntelliJ, Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, MS Visio, or Power Designer.Demonstrated experience leading development teams in delivering end-to-end enterprise IT solutions.Strong experience conducting solution design and code walkthroughs.Strong debugging, refactoring, optimization, and problem-solving skills.Experience developing technical design alternatives and recommendations.Knowledge of ITIL, project management methodologies, estimation, and IT processes.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Ability to work on multiple assignments and priorities concurrently. Preferred / Public Sector Experience Previous experience working within public-sector or government environments is an asset.Understanding of government IT standards, policies, directives, security, privacy, and architecture guidelines is preferred.Experience working with formal architecture checkpoints and enterprise architecture artifacts is an asset.
