Full Stack Engineer - Python/FastAPI

Senior Full Stack Developer Contract: 12 months Location: Toronto, ON Work Model: Hybrid, minimum 4 days onsite Positions: 2 Role Overview Seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to build and enhance a production GenAI platform. The role combines hands-on Python/FastAPI backend development with React/TypeScript frontend development and integration of LLM/GenAI capabilities. Key Responsibilities Build and deliver features across Python/FastAPI backend services and React/TypeScript frontend applications.Develop and integrate GenAI/LLM-powered application components.Build and maintain REST APIs and database integrations.Write and maintain automated tests using pytest, Vitest or similar frameworks.Participate in code reviews and maintain strong software engineering standards.Deploy and monitor containerized applications using Docker, Helm and Kubernetes/OpenShift.Troubleshoot production issues and support application reliability.Work collaboratively across engineering, research and product teams.Use AI-assisted development tools as part of the development workflow.Must-Have Requirements Production experience with both Python and TypeScript/JavaScript.Strong experience with React or a comparable modern frontend framework.Python-based REST API development experience.Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.Strong software engineering fundamentals including automated testing, Git, code reviews and coding standards.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Nice to Have Experience building or productionizing LLM/GenAI applications, including RAG, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks or agent orchestration.Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift and Helm.CI/CD and production monitoring/observability.Data pipelines, dashboards or data visualization.Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Windsurf or GitHub Copilot.Additional Details 37.5 hours/week2-round virtual interview processEquipment providedPotential extension/conversion: TBDStart: ASAP Note: We use AI tools to: obtain basic information, detect plagiarism, false employment history or references, categorize your skills, and do an initial match with job posting.
