DreamWorks is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Web Tools development team. The Web Tools development team is responsible for the development, iteration and maintenance of web-based and native applications that offer rich, visual, and intuitive experience for Production Users. Job Description “What would you say you do here?” Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Production on the development of web-based and native application front end solutionsEngage with fellow developers through active participation in code reviews, design discussions, demos, proposals, and rapid prototypingDedication to an iterative development process driven by the goal to continuously improve the user experience across all types of production workflowsDevelop clean, maintainable, and documented solutionsCollaborate with backend engineering teams through traces, metrics, and requirements to inform development priorities and to focus performance related developmentDeploy applications regularly adhering to studio standards and best practicesParticipate in requirements gathering to inform design and developmentParticipate in user observation studies to be regularly evaluating how users work and identifying where improvements can be madeFollow standard UX design methodologies throughout the development processProvide technical and architectural guidance to more junior engineers on teamCollaborate with production and team’s project manager to devise and maintain feature roadmaps for studio web applicationsAct as a visual translator for complex Pipeline feature sets and requirements Qualifications "What do I need to have in order to do this job?” 3+ years of programming experience in technologies like: HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), Node.js, Python, Java, QTProficiency in modern front end application features and design goalsExperience with modern frameworks, standards, and technologies used in front end web development (e.g. React, Angular, Vue, etc)Experience implementing automated unit and End-to-End (E2E) testsStrong understanding of responsive design, state management, client-side performance, and REST/WebSocket API integrationAbility to provide technical leadership to other engineers on the teamStrong communication, collaboration, and problem solving skills“What can I offer?” Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldAwareness of UX design principles and best practicesExperience working closely with UX design, product and backend development teamsProduction experience in computer animation, visual effects, or game industryA portfolio of user interface samples that demonstrates skill and passionExperience building, packaging, and maintaining internal npm modules and shared UI component libraries across distributed teamsExperience utilizing and auditing AI developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for code efficiency, security, and architectural integrityHybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
