## About the Role
Turnitin is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Grading and Feedback (GRaF) team.
The role focuses on building and maintaining backend services that support grading and feedback functionality.
You will design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems using AWS Lambda and related cloud technologies.
The position plays an important role in developing and optimizing Turnitin's serverless architecture while collaborating closely with Product, QA, UX, Support, and engineering teams.
## Key Responsibilities
* Architect and develop scalable backend services using AWS Lambda.
* Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
* Build reliable, maintainable, and high-performance serverless applications.
* Optimize existing backend services for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
* Integrate backend services with frontend applications and supporting systems.
* Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
* Participate in technical design and architecture discussions.
* Conduct code reviews and promote high-quality development practices.
* Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge with the team.

## Required Qualifications

## Compensation
The expected annual base salary range for this position is **$112,125 to $186,875**.
The position is also eligible for a bonus.
