About The Role
We’re looking for a Design Engineer to help shape and ship Libra’s AI workspace for legal professionals.
You’ll turn complex ideas into simple, high-quality experiences, moving from early exploration through to production code.
This is a 50/50 design-engineer role where you’ll work across Figma and GitHub, closely partnering with Product Design and Product Engineering to keep ideas strong from concept to implementation while helping the team prototype, validate, and ship quickly.
You’ll operate at the intersection of design, engineering, and applied AI, helping define new ways for legal professionals to research, draft, review documents, verify sources, and collaborate with intelligent systems.
What You’ll Do
Design and ship product experiences from early concepts through to polished production interfacesWork directly in the front-end codebase through pull requests, code reviews, testing, and releasePartner with Product Design and Product Engineering early to shape elegant, feasible solutionsBuild functional prototypes that make complex ideas tangible and help the team test assumptions quicklyDefine interaction patterns for AI agents, legal documents, citations, generated content, and multi-step workflowsUse AI coding and prototyping tools to accelerate exploration and implementation without compromising judgment or craftTranslate design intent into reusable, responsive, and accessible components and product patternsBuild accessibility into the product from the start, applying WCAG standards across interaction, navigation, content, and implementationHelp keep Figma, shared components, and the production experience aligned as the product evolvesUse customer feedback, research, analytics, and session replays to identify and improve critical product experiencesRaise the quality bar across typography, spacing, motion, microcopy, loading states, empty states, and edge casesOperate with autonomy in a fast-moving environment where many AI interaction patterns are still being invented
What We’re Looking For
Strong experience designing and building sophisticated digital productsA true 50/50 design engineer, equally credible in product design and front-end implementationAn exceptional eye for visual design, interaction quality, and detailStrong front-end fundamentals, including TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSSFluency in Figma and confidence working in GitHub and production codebasesExperience taking features from exploration and prototyping through to release and iterationStrong product judgment and the ability to simplify complex, information-dense workflowsExperience using AI tools as a meaningful part of your design and development processA strong understanding of responsive design, reusable components, scalable UI architecture, and WCAG accessibility standardsStrong cross-functional instincts and the ability to collaborate with designers, engineers, product managers, and domain expertsHigh ownership, clear communication, and genuine comfort with ambiguity
