Job Description: A Lead Web Developer is responsible for building and scaling high-performance, web applications and platform services. This role combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and people management, with responsibility for delivering scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems that support real-time and data-intensive workflows. Duties and Responsibilities: Technical Leadership & Architecture Own the architecture and design of scalable, high-availability web platforms and servicesLead design discussions, perform architectural reviews, and make key technical decisionsDefine and enforce engineering standards, coding practices, and system design principlesDrive adoption of modern architectures, including microservices and event-driven systemsPlatform Engineering & Delivery Design and build web applications using modern frameworks (Angular/React) and backend services (Node.js or similar)Develop and scale distributed systems with a focus on performance, resilience, and observabilityDefine API strategies and integration patterns across services and external systemsEnsure robust CI/CD pipelines and high-quality release processesTeam Leadership & Mentorship Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing distributed engineering teamProvide hands-on technical guidance across all levels of experienceSupport hiring, onboarding, and performance managementExecution & Stakeholder Management Own delivery timelines, technical risks, and quality outcomes across projectsWork closely with Product Managers, QA, and Operations to align on priorities and executionCommunicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholdersProactively identify and mitigate risks impacting deliveryContinuous Improvement & Innovation Evaluate new technologies, tools, and architectural approachesDrive improvements in engineering processes, system performance, and developer productivityPromote best practices in documentation, testing, and maintainability Skills & Qualifications Essential: 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant experience in full-stack web developmentProven expertise in modern frontend frameworks (Angular and/or React)Strong backend development experience (Node.js or similar technologies)Demonstrated experience designing and building scalable, distributed systemsExperience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)Strong understanding of software design patterns and engineering best practicesExperience working in Agile development environmentsExcellent communication and leadership skills, with experience managing distributed teamsDesired: Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar) and containerised deploymentsFamiliarity with Kubernetes and microservices architecturesExperience with databases including PostgreSQL, MS SQL, Oracle, and NoSQL (e.g., Cassandra)Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesExperience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing)Knowledge of additional backend technologies (e.g., .NET/C#)Experience building frameworks, reusable platform components, or developer toolingAt Petrolink, you’ll find more than just a job—you’ll discover real opportunities for advancement and ongoing learning.
