Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Engineer Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 + Bonus Location: London (Hybrid Working) (Sponsorship not provided) Our client, a best-in-class globally recognised strategic advisory firm, is seeking an experienced Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Engineer to join their growing technology team. Reporting to the Group Head of ICT Infrastructure, you will play a key role in designing, embedding, and continuously strengthening resilience across the organisation's global technology estate, ensuring critical systems and services can be recovered rapidly from cyber incidents, infrastructure failure, and operational disruption. Key Responsibilities Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Ownership Own and maintain the organisation's BC/DR strategy across infrastructure and critical systemsDevelop and continuously refine recovery plans aligned to business and operational prioritiesTransition recovery capability from static documentation to engineered, testable solutions Resilient Infrastructure Design Design and support resilient architectures across cloud and on-prem environmentsEnsure systems are built with recovery, redundancy, and fault tolerance as standardImplement backup, replication, and failover mechanisms to support rapid restoration of services Risk & Recovery Management Define and manage Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)Validate backup integrity, restore processes, and recovery sequencingIdentify and remediate gaps in operational resilience and recovery readiness Testing & Simulation Plan and execute disaster recovery tests, failover exercises, and large-scale cyber recovery simulations with technical teamsCapture outcomes and drive continuous improvement in recovery capability Incident Support & Leadership Act as a technical SME during major incidents, providing structured support through high-pressure operational disruptionContribute to post-incident analysis and ensure corrective actions are implemented Collaboration & Governance Work closely with Security teams to align recovery planning with cyber incident responseEngage with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure resilience requirements are metEnsure recovery capabilities meet client, regulatory, and governance expectations, embedding resilience into architecture, change, and project processes Documentation & Capability Development Develop clear recovery playbooks for key failure scenarios (cyber, infrastructure, data loss)Maintain structured, usable documentation for recovery workflows and escalation pathsBuild internal capability and reduce dependency on external recovery support Essential Experience 5+ years' experience in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering within a hybrid cloud environmentProven experience designing and implementing Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutionsStrong understanding of cyber-related failure scenarios (ransomware, identity compromise, service disruption)Experience supporting incident response and system recovery activitiesDeep knowledge of backup, replication, high availability, and failover architecturesExperience defining and working with RTO and RPO targets in enterprise environmentsStrong analytical skills with the ability to assess and reduce technical riskAbility to remain calm and structured during major incidentsStrong communication and documentation skills, capable of producing executive-ready resilience documentationAppreciation of regulatory, client, and governance expectations around operational resilience and cyber preparedness Desirable Experience Experience implementing or continuously improving a BC/DR framework aligned with ISO 27001, including supporting certification or surveillance audits (controls, evidence, risk treatment, testing records, and continual improvement)Experience in professional services or highly client-facing environmentsCloud, cybersecurity, or business continuity–related certificationsExposure to structured disaster recovery testing or cyber simulation exercisesBackground in high-availability or mission-critical infrastructure environments If you are passionate about this opportunity and meet the qualifications and skills outlined, we encourage you to promptly submit your CV for consideration.
