FinOps Engineer – AWS Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 Location: London (2 days a week in the office) (sponsorship cannot be provided) The Role We’re looking for an AWS-focused professional to join our clients team in a customer-facing FinOps and cloud optimisation role. You’ll work directly with customers to understand how they use AWS, where their cloud spend is coming from and where improvements can be made. You’ll combine strong AWS knowledge with commercial awareness to help customers reduce unnecessary expenditure while maintaining performance, scalability and operational requirements. This role would suit someone with a strong AWS background who has moved into, or wants to develop further within, FinOps and cloud cost optimisation. Previous FinOps experience is valuable, but strong AWS knowledge and the ability to work confidently with customers are equally important. Key Responsibilities Analyse AWS environments, usage and billing data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved efficiency.Work with customers to understand the technical and commercial drivers behind their AWS expenditure.Recommend appropriate optimisation strategies, including Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Spot Instances and Graviton adoption.Develop customer budgets, forecasts and spend models to improve visibility and predictability.Monitor AWS expenditure and usage trends, identifying anomalies and potential areas of overspend.Support customers with cloud financial governance, including tagging, reporting and cost allocation.Use AWS-native tools and third-party platforms to improve cost reporting and visibility.Produce clear optimisation plans and recommendations, then work with customers to support implementation.Present findings and recommendations to technical teams, management and senior stakeholders.Work closely with internal cloud, engineering, support and account teams to ensure cost optimisation is considered alongside performance and operational requirements.Build trusted relationships with customers and become a key point of contact for AWS cost and optimisation advice. What We're Looking For Strong experience working with AWS within a consultancy, managed services, cloud partner or customer-facing environment.Experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, cloud operations or a related AWS discipline.Good practical knowledge of AWS services and an understanding of AWS pricing and consumption models.Hands-on experience with AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, Cost & Usage Reports (CUR) and Cost Anomaly Detection.Experience identifying and implementing AWS cost optimisation opportunities.Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn complex usage and billing information into clear recommendations.Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage with engineers, technical leaders and C-suite stakeholders.Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple customer requirements simultaneously.A proactive, commercially minded approach with a genuine interest in helping customers get more value from AWS.
