About the role
We are looking for a Python Developer to join our team in Larnaca, Cyprus, and contribute to the continued development, modernisation, and optimisation of our headless CMS platform.
The platform supports several iGaming brands and integrates with a game back-office and other external systems through APIs.
API stability, performance, security, and maintainability are therefore essential to the role.
You will work with an established production codebase and collaborate with other colleagues to deliver new functionality, improve integrations, and resolve real production issues.
Responsibilities
· Develop, maintain, and improve the Python services that support our headless CMS platform.
· Build backend features, APIs, integrations, and administrative functionality.
· Maintain and extend integrations between the CMS, the game back-office, and external platforms.
· Develop and maintain APIs consumed by multiple game platform brands.
· Ensure compatibility, authentication, error handling, reliability, performance, and security across integrations.
· Investigate and resolve issues involving API communication, data synchronisation, external dependencies, and production behaviour.
· Maintain and optimise PostgreSQL queries, data models, indexes, and database interactions.
· Use Redis and background task systems for caching, sessions, queues, and asynchronous processing where appropriate.
· Improve application performance, scalability, caching, image delivery, and CDN behaviour.
· Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code, and improve existing code where necessary.
· Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions.
Perform and support application deployments, and collaborate with other developers to improve deployment processes, testing, monitoring, and support.Required skills and experience
· Practical commercial experience developing applications with Python.
· Experience with Celery or another asynchronous/background task system.
· Experience designing, consuming, and maintaining REST APIs or similar HTTP-based integrations.
· Understanding of API authentication, error handling, versioning, and backward compatibility.
· Experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database, together with a good understanding of SQL and database design.
· A working understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows.
· A good understanding of core web technologies, including:
o HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs, and JSON
o HTML/CSS and JavaScript fundamentals
o Cookies, sessions, and caching
· Basic knowledge of Linux servers and the ability to work comfortably from the command line.
· Experience working with API-heavy architectures or integration platforms.
· A basic understanding of application deployment and DevOps concepts.
· The ability to investigate technical problems independently and understand the application beyond the surface level.
Comfortable communicating in English.Highly desirable
Experience in one or more of the following would be particularly valuable:
• Headless CMS or API-first content platforms.
• Multi-brand or multi-tenant web platforms.
• PostgreSQL performance tuning.
• Nginx or another reverse proxy, and Gunicorn/Uvicorn or similar Python application servers.
• Docker, containerised development/deployment, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Cloud or Linux-based production environments.
• CDN platforms such as Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly, or similar.
• Image processing, responsive image delivery, and modern formats such as WebP and AVIF.
• Application profiling and caching strategies across application, database, reverse-proxy, and CDN layers.
• Monitoring, logging, debugging, and security practices for internet-facing production applications.
• Upgrading Wagtail applications between major versions
