The company works with clients to build secure, scalable, and user-focused digital solutions through Agile development and modern engineering practices. ## About the Role Fearless is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support cloud infrastructure, automation, security, and delivery pipelines for a federal healthcare platform serving approximately 11 million monthly users. This senior-level role combines advanced DevOps expertise with DevSecOps, cloud engineering, federal compliance, and technical leadership. The position is primarily remote and requires candidates to meet CMS residency requirements and obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust clearance. ### Key Responsibilities * Design, automate, secure, and maintain cloud and edge infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP. * Configure and manage CDN and edge services such as Akamai, Cloudflare, or CloudFront, including Web Application Firewalls. * Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation. * Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins. * Create automation scripts using Python, Bash, or Go. * Containerize and operate applications using Docker and Kubernetes. * Support local development environments such as DDEV. * Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting with tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog. * Integrate security and federal compliance requirements into development and delivery processes. * Support FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53 compliance and generate audit evidence. * Identify, investigate, and remediate infrastructure and application security risks. * Collaborate with clients, partner contractors, developers, and cross-functional Agile teams. * Mentor engineers and serve as a technical resource for cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and security. * Advise clients and leadership on technical strategies, risks, and solutions. * Drive delivery, accountability, risk management, and alignment with project objectives. ### Required Qualifications * 7+ years of engineering experience working in Agile, cross-functional environments. * Experience working directly with external clients and partner contractors. * Experience with federal compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53. * Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP. * Experience with CDN and edge technologies such as Akamai, Cloudflare, or CloudFront. * Strong Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation. * Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins. * Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go. * Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. * Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms. * Strong problem-solving, communication, ownership, and consulting skills. * Ability to pass a federal background check and obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. * Must satisfy CMS residency requirements, including U.S. residency for at least 3 of the last 5 years. * Successful completion of a DevSecOps take-home exercise. ### Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Drupal 11 architecture and APIs. * Experience with Node.js, Next.js, or React. * AWS DevOps, CKA, or HashiCorp Terraform certifications. * Experience scaling MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Redis. * Experience with AWS Lambda and serverless architectures. * Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot. * Experience with DDEV and modern local development environments. ## Skills & Competencies The ideal candidate demonstrates analytical and synthetic thinking, adaptability, ownership, accountability, consultative advising, effective communication, and strong client alignment.
