About The Role We are seeking a talented Backend Developer / AI Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be integral to building and maintaining the backend infrastructure that powers our AI platform. Your work will directly impact the development of enterprise AI solutions that serve organizations with a social mission. You will be responsible for designing reliable, scalable, and secure backend services, integrating various AI models, and ensuring data privacy and compliance with European data protection standards (GDPR). This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects that combine AI, semantic search, and data management, contributing to solutions that are both technically advanced and socially meaningful. You will collaborate closely with frontend, data, and AI teams to shape the architecture and functionality of our platform, ensuring high performance and user satisfaction. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development with experience in modern, type-safe programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or C#. You should possess a solid understanding of API design and operation, real-time and streaming interfaces, and proficiency in concurrent programming and performance optimization. Experience with semantic search, AI-driven retrieval, and managing large datasets is essential. Familiarity with integrating AI and LLM services, container technologies, Linux, version control, and CI/CD pipelines is required. Additionally, candidates should have robust knowledge of relational and search/vector databases, along with a keen awareness of data privacy, security, and multi-tenant architectures. Excellent German language skills and an autonomous, organized work style are also important. Responsibilities Develop and operate backend services supporting AI assistants that provide knowledge and functionality for client projects.Enhance and maintain search capabilities to ensure quick and relevant content retrieval, including data preparation for AI models.Ensure the scalability and speed of large knowledge bases, managing data quality and search performance.Integrate language models (LLMs) and prepare data inputs necessary for their operation.Collaborate with external AI providers, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and European data residency requirements.Guarantee reliable and fast responses, even under high concurrency, maintaining system robustness.Maintain strict separation of client data and enforce reliable access controls.Contribute to architectural decisions and work closely with frontend, data, and AI teams to implement scalable solutions.
