About MasterKey Masterkey is building the AI operating layer for independent hotels. Hotels still spend too much time jumping between disconnected systems, checking dashboards and completing repetitive admin. Masterkey connects those systems, understands what is happening across the property, and turns fragmented data into decisions and actions. Our goal is simple: give hoteliers more time to focus on their guests. We’re a small, ambitious startup team. We move quickly, experiment often and work closely together. We take the work seriously, but we’re also fun people to work with and want someone who enjoys the energy and unpredictability of an early-stage environment. Role Description We’re looking for an AI Engineer to help build the intelligence behind Masterkey. You’ll work directly with the founders and engineering team to build AI systems that understand hotel operations, generate recommendations and increasingly automate repetitive work. You may work across: LLM-powered applications and AI agentsAgentic workflows and tool callingRAG, embeddings and memory systemsRecommendation and decision systemsStructured and unstructured hotel dataAI evaluation and reliabilityAPIs, databases and production integrationsRapid prototyping and experimentation This is not a research-only role. We want someone who enjoys building, shipping and improving AI products used in the real world. What We Are Looking For Strong Python and software engineering fundamentalsExperience building with LLMs, machine learning or modern AI frameworksUnderstanding of APIs, databases and production software systemsFamiliarity with concepts such as RAG, embeddings, structured outputs, tool calling or AI agentsStrong problem-solving and experimentation skillsComfortable working with ambiguity and changing prioritiesAble to move quickly without needing everything perfectly definedStrong communication and collaboration skillsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Data Science or a related field is preferred, although equivalent practical experience is equally valuable.
