Frontend Development Lead

This on-site position is based in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. This role requires prior people management / team development experience. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Front End Lead Developer to lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of web and mobile applications. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to the development team, collaborate closely with UI/UX designers and business stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, high-performing, and maintainable applications. The role requires strong hands-on experience in front-end development, mobile application development, API integration, cloud platforms, and Agile software development. Experience working in a vendor environment is mandatory. Key Responsibilities 1. Front-End & Mobile Application Development Lead and participate in the development of web and mobile front-end applicationsDevelop and maintain applications using Node.js / Next.js / React.js or Microsoft .NET technologies.Develop next-generation mobile applications using React Native, including the enhancement, maintenance, and support of existing applications.Develop and integrate mobile enterprise applications for Android and iOS using hybrid and/or native platforms.Work closely with UI/UX designers to translate design mock-ups, wireframes, and user requirements into functional and user-friendly applications.Ensure applications are responsive, scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable. 2. Technical Architecture & API Integration Design and implement well-structured and high-performing APIs to support front-end applications.Ensure efficient integration between front-end applications, backend systems, databases, and third-party services.Work with JSON and REST-based APIs for application integration.Contribute to software design, technical architecture, and development standards.Ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements with emphasis on performance, availability, scalability, security, maintainability, reliability, configuration, and integration. 3. Database & Cloud Technologies Work with database design, queries, and reporting using Microsoft SQL Server and/or MySQL.Develop and maintain applications deployed on cloud-based infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.Collaborate with relevant technical teams to ensure effective application deployment and integration within cloud environments. 4. CI/CD & Software Delivery Establish, maintain, and improve Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) processes for web and mobile applications.Support application release, deployment, troubleshooting, and production activities.Participate in release management and on-call support where required.Ensure development and release processes adhere to established technical and quality standards. 5. Technical Leadership Provide technical leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to the implementation and development team.Lead technical discussions and support the team in resolving complex technical issues.Work collaboratively with team members to deliver complex system changes and projects within agreed timelines.Delegate tasks effectively and provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.Support the development of effective project teams and promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. 6. Agile Development & Project Delivery Participate in all phases of the Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements definition, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.Translate business and technical requirements into practical and effective software solutions.Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, test plans, system documentation, development guidelines, and management presentations.Collaborate with Business Analysts, UI/UX Designers, QA/Testers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.Troubleshoot and resolve application issues and defects, working closely with testers to address reported bugs.Ensure assigned projects and deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and quality standards. 7. Stakeholder & Vendor Environment Work effectively with internal teams, customers, vendors, and other project stakeholders.Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.Support project implementation and delivery within a vendor/IT consultancy environment.Ensure technical solutions are aligned with customer requirements, project objectives, and contractual deliverables. 8. Continuous Improvement Keep up to date with current and emerging technologies, frameworks, tools, and features relevant to web and mobile application development.Identify opportunities to improve application performance, development processes, system reliability, and overall delivery efficiency.Promote engineering best practices, coding standards, documentation standards, and quality assurance throughout the development lifecycle. Job Requirements: Education Bachelor's Degree or Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Professional Experience Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in software development, IT project consultancy, system implementation, or a similar technical environment.Minimum 5 years of experience working in a vendor/IT consultancy environment is required.Strong hands-on experience in web and/or mobile application development.Experience in leading or providing technical direction to software development/implementation teams. Technical Skills Strong proficiency in one or more of the following:o Node.js o Next.js o React.js o Microsoft .NET o React Native Experience developing applications for Android and iOS platforms.Good knowledge of REST APIs and JSON.Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or MySQL.Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.Proficient in Git and source/version control practices.Experience with CI/CD and application deployment processes.Good understanding of software design principles, application architecture, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
