Description

We are looking for a strong Lead Software Engineer with expertise in either Android or API development. The ideal candidate will have some Android experience, regardless of their primary specialization, and a proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams. Opportunity Snapshot The primary focus of this role is to lead mobile application design and development activities across Bupa’s digital products. This includes ensuring development teams adhere to best practices, delivering high-quality applications built using native tech stacks that meet or exceed business and customer expectations. What you’ll need to make it possible  Minimum 7 years' experience in mobile application development, using languages such as Objective C, Kotlin, or Swift. Demonstrated success leading teams of 4 to 10 developers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. Hands-on experience with Bupa’s preferred mobile technology stacks: Android: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android Studio, Gradle iOS: Swift, UI Kit/Swift UI, Xcode Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related field. At least 2 years’ experience working with REST Services and Microsoft Azure. Strong expertise in full-stack development and enterprise architecture including Front-end development .NET backend and integration Databases and cloud platforms (Azure) Services such as Azure Service Bus, Function Apps, AKS Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience building and deploying applications in modern DevOps environments. Proven capability in applying system analysis, solution design, and feasibility evaluation in large-scale mobile application development. Deep understanding of best practices in software design, including testability, maintainability, and performance. Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery methods, with a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and improvement. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex customer needs into practical technical solutions. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to interact professionally across a diverse group including senior leaders and subject matter experts. Collaborative leadership style, with a strong technical foundation and the ability to influence, mentor, and guide both engineering teams and business stakeholders.
