Description
Join our Property IQ team and play a lead role in driving the next evolution of our Strata Application capabilities and Platform Evolution.
We are building the PropertyIQ of the future and we are doing it with our clients by our side.
At Macquarie, technology is viewed as an important enabler for our business growth, where we are using a mix of modern cloud based and home-grown technologies to deliver impactful experiences for our clients that not only allow them to achieve their operational and financial goals, but fundamentally change the way they interact within the strata ecosystem.
We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability.
At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value.
You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.
What role will you play?
As a Frontend Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for translating UI/UX designs wireframes to actual code to produce visual elements of applications, optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability and deliver incrementally in iterative cycles.
You will split your time between core development, enhancing and supporting the product while working with the team across the full development lifecycle to include design, testing and peer code reviews.
What You Offer
You own architecture direction for the frontend estate: deciding when a domain should be carved out as an independently deployable unit (a micro-frontend) versus kept inside the core application and defending that call against both premature fragmentation and unchecked monolith growth. You set technical direction on composition strategy for a multi-team frontend (build-time integration versus runtime composition such as module federation), weighing deployment independence against operational, versioning and performance cost, and you can make the case against a micro-frontend split when the cost outweighs the benefit. You weigh SPA, server-side rendering, static generation and edge rendering against each other for a given page or flow, choosing based on real constraints (SEO, time-to-interactive, data freshness, device and network conditions) rather than defaulting to whatever the framework does out of the box.You can trace jank through the actual rendering pipeline (parse, style, layout, paint, composite), know which changes trigger a full reflow versus a cheap compositor update, and keep the main thread free for user input using scheduling techniques or web workers. You move Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) in production, not just report on them, confirming every gain against real user monitoring rather than lab scores alone. You know when a piece of state belongs in a local component, a shared client store, or a server-state cache, and you treat the URL as a first-class store for shareable, bookmarkable state so deep links, refreshes and browser back/forward all land on the correct view. You treat every advanced browser platform capability (web workers, service workers, IndexedDB or the Origin Private File System, WebAssembly) as a deliberate architectural decision backed by a documented cost-benefit case, not a default reach because the browser supports it.Comprehensive design system experience, with a history of building and governing design systems used across multiple squads.Demonstrated success driving AI-assisted engineering as standard practice — identifying opportunities to improve developer productivity, quality, and delivery efficiency, and leading that adoption.Experience mentoring and upskilling engineers, with evidence of the outcome (skills lifted, delivery improved for a defined group) rather than occasional pairing sessions. You champion accessibility as a non-negotiable engineering standard and own frontend-specific risk more broadly: client-side data exposure, third-party script governance, and regulatory or security obligations, ensuring these are upheld across a team's output, not just your own code. You bring expertise in TypeScript and modern Angular (or similar frameworks) — including patterns like standalone components and signals — to ground these decisions in our actual frontend estate.
We love hearing from anyone inspired to build a better future with us, if you're excited about the role or working at Macquarie we encourage you to apply.
