About the Role
Samsung Electronics Benelux B.V.
is looking for an experienced and hands-on Data Center Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and expansion of its global data center infrastructure.
You will work at the heart of data center operations, combining technical expertise with physical infrastructure management, hardware troubleshooting, project coordination, and vendor management.
The role involves installing and maintaining servers, networking equipment, security systems, structured cabling, and other critical infrastructure.
You will respond to hardware-related support requests, manage equipment relocations, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure operational activities meet defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
This position is well suited to an experienced data center professional who can work independently, coordinate with international vendors and remote teams, manage physical infrastructure, and participate in an on-call support rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide hands-on, onsite operational support for data center infrastructure.Execute infrastructure projects, including server relocations and hardware installations.Respond to ticket-based hardware support requests.Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within defined SLAs.Safely relocate equipment between racks and data center locations.Unrack, uncable, transport, reinstall, and reconnect hardware.Diagnose hardware failures and respond to system alerts.Replace failed hard drives and other faulty components.Install servers, network equipment, security equipment, and structured cabling.Ensure physical installations meet industry standards and organizational best practices.Troubleshoot and maintain physical network components.Coordinate with third-party vendors for racks, power systems, network equipment, and structured cabling.Coordinate equipment deliveries and installation activities.Manage data center inventory and equipment records.Liaise with suppliers and logistics partners for domestic and international shipments.Coordinate remote hands activities when required.Manage Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) for faulty equipment.Create, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures.Document infrastructure activities, incidents, and maintenance work.Support service provisioning and data center infrastructure projects.Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency incidents and outages.Collaborate with international stakeholders and remote technical teams.Identify opportunities to improve data center processes and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of professional experience working in data center environments.Experience working with data center and network vendors.Experience coordinating service provisioning and equipment installations.Strong hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting server hardware.Experience working with network circuits and physical network infrastructure.Experience installing and troubleshooting structured cabling.Knowledge of structured cabling standards and best practices.Experience coordinating projects in data center environments.Experience with inventory management and control.Experience with remote hands coordination.Broad technical understanding of data center hardware and infrastructure.Strong understanding of networking technologies.Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and related technologies.Strong organizational and project coordination skills.Ability to work independently with limited supervision.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly spreadsheets and shared documentation.Fluency in spoken and written Dutch.Fluency in spoken and written English.Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in an on-call rotation.Willingness to work five days per week in the data center.Willingness to travel internationally up to 10%.

Project & Vendor Coordination
The Data Center Engineer will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, logistics partners, and third-party vendors to ensure infrastructure activities are completed efficiently and according to technical requirements.
Responsibilities may include coordinating:

Data Center Operations
This is a highly hands-on position requiring daily interaction with physical data center equipment and infrastructure.
Typical activities may include:
Installing and removing servers.Moving equipment between racks.Connecting and disconnecting cables.Replacing failed hardware components.Installing network equipment.Troubleshooting hardware failures.Managing rack infrastructure.Maintaining structured cabling.Responding to infrastructure incidents.Updating equipment documentation and inventory records.
Team Structure
You will join a small, experienced team of three professionals based in the Netherlands.
The other team members perform similar data center engineering responsibilities and will support you as you become familiar with the environment.
The manager is based abroad, making strong communication, independence, organization, and self-management important qualities for this position.
Work Arrangement
This is a full-time onsite position based in the Amsterdam area of the Netherlands.
The successful candidate will be expected to work five days per week in the data center.
The role includes participation in an on-call rotation to provide support during emergency incidents and infrastructure outages outside normal working hours.
International travel of up to 10% may also be required.
