About the Role Samsung Electronics Benelux B.V. is seeking a hands-on and technically experienced Data Center Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and growth of its global data center infrastructure. In this role, you will work at the core of data center operations, combining technical expertise, physical infrastructure management, troubleshooting, project coordination, and vendor management. You will be responsible for installing and maintaining servers, networking equipment, security systems, structured cabling, and other critical infrastructure. You will also respond to hardware-related support requests, manage equipment movements, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure that operational activities meet defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The position is ideal for an experienced data center professional who is comfortable working independently, managing physical infrastructure, coordinating with international vendors, and participating in an on-call rotation. Key Responsibilities Provide on-site operational support for data center infrastructure.Execute infrastructure projects, including server relocations and hardware installations.Respond to ticket-based hardware support requests.Resolve technical issues within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).Safely relocate equipment between racks and data center locations.Unrack, uncable, transport, reinstall, and reconnect hardware.Diagnose and resolve hardware failures and system alerts.Replace failed hard drives and other faulty components.Install servers, network equipment, security equipment, and structured cabling.Ensure physical installations comply with industry standards and organizational best practices.Troubleshoot and maintain physical network components.Troubleshoot server hardware and related infrastructure.Coordinate with third-party vendors for racks, power systems, network equipment, and structured cabling.Coordinate equipment delivery and installation activities.Manage data center inventory and equipment records.Liaise with suppliers and logistics partners regarding domestic and international shipments.Coordinate remote hands activities when required.Manage Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) for faulty equipment.Create, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures.Document infrastructure activities, incidents, and maintenance work.Support infrastructure projects and service provisioning.Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency incidents and outages.Work closely with remote teams and international stakeholders.Support continuous improvement of data center operational processes. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of professional experience working in data center environments.Experience working with data center and network vendors.Experience coordinating service provisioning and equipment installations.Strong hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting server hardware.Experience working with network circuits and physical network infrastructure.Experience installing and troubleshooting structured cabling.Knowledge of structured cabling standards and best practices.Experience coordinating projects within data center environments.Experience with inventory management and control.Experience with remote hands coordination.Broad technical understanding of data center hardware.Strong understanding of networking infrastructure.Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and related technologies.Strong organizational and project coordination skills.Ability to work independently with limited supervision.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly complex spreadsheets and shared documentation.Fluent spoken and written Dutch.Fluent spoken and written English.Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in an on-call rotation.Willingness to work five days per week in the data center.Willingness to travel internationally up to 10%. Data Center Operations This position requires a highly hands-on approach. You will physically work with data center equipment and infrastructure on a daily basis. Activities may include: Installing and removing serversMoving equipment between racksConnecting and disconnecting cablesReplacing failed componentsInstalling network equipmentTroubleshooting hardware failuresManaging rack infrastructureMaintaining structured cablingResponding to infrastructure incidentsUpdating documentation and inventory records Team Structure You will join a small and experienced team of three professionals based in the Netherlands. Team members perform similar data center engineering responsibilities and will support you as you become familiar with the environment. The manager for this position is based abroad, so strong communication, independence, organization, and self-management are important. Work Arrangement This is a full-time, onsite position based in the Amsterdam area of the Netherlands. The successful candidate will be expected to work five days per week in the data center. The role also includes participation in an on-call rotation to provide support for emergency incidents and infrastructure outages outside normal working hours. International travel of up to 10% may be required.
