About The Role We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer / AI Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the backend services that power our AI solutions. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and reliability of our AI assistants, knowledge search functionalities, and data processing pipelines. You will collaborate closely with frontend, data, and AI teams to design scalable, secure, and privacy-compliant architectures that support our mission of delivering impactful AI solutions to organizations with societal relevance. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you should bring several years of experience in backend development using modern, type-safe programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or C#. You should have a solid understanding of API design and operation, including real-time and streaming interfaces, with expertise in concurrent programming and performance optimization. Familiarity with semantic search, AI-driven retrieval, and handling large datasets is essential, along with experience integrating various AI and LLM services. Proficiency with container technologies, Linux environments, version control, and CI/CD pipelines is required. Additionally, you should possess strong database knowledge, whether relational or specialized for search and vector data, and a keen awareness of data privacy, security, and tenant separation principles. Excellent communication skills in German are necessary, and a structured, autonomous work style with a team-oriented mindset is highly valued. Responsibilities Develop and operate backend services for AI assistants that provide knowledge and support for client projects.Enhance search functionalities to ensure quick and accurate retrieval of relevant content and prepare data for AI processing.Maintain the speed and searchability of large knowledge repositories, overseeing the architecture, deployment, and quality assurance of search systems.Integrate language models (LLMs) and prepare data sets required for their effective operation.Implement and manage integrations with various AI providers and models, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data privacy standards within Europe.Ensure reliable and fast response delivery, even under high demand, managing concurrent requests efficiently.Maintain strict data separation between clients, managing access rights and ensuring data security and privacy.Contribute to architectural decisions, working closely with frontend, data, and AI teams to develop scalable and secure solutions.
