Description
Company Description
Farm Concepts develops intelligent robotic systems for agriculture and logistics.
Our projects include autonomous harvesting robots and mobile robots that automate material handling and other repetitive operations.
We work across robotics, computer vision, machine learning, embedded systems, and software engineering to build practical automation solutions that operate in real-world environments.
Role Description
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join us on a contract basis, working on the development of autonomous robotic systems in a ROS environment.
The work involves developing and integrating software for robotic arms, mobile platforms, cameras, sensors, and other hardware, with a particular focus on perception, manipulation, and motion planning.
This role requires practical experience developing either computer vision algorithms or robot motion/trajectory planning solutions.
We are looking for someone who can contribute to these areas from the beginning of the contract.
The work will include:
• Developing algorithms for autonomous robots using ROS 2
• Developing computer vision solutions for object detection, localisation, and pose estimation
• Developing and integrating motion and trajectory planning for robotic manipulators
• Integrating robotic arms, mobile platforms, cameras, grippers, and other sensors and actuators
• Working with coordinate systems, transformations, robot kinematics, and calibration
• Integrating perception with motion planning and robot control
• Testing, debugging, and tuning software on physical robots
The primary development environment is:
Linux · ROS 2 · Python · OpenCV · MoveIt
Other technologies may include C/C++, machine learning frameworks, depth and stereo cameras, embedded systems, and vendor-specific robot APIs.
Qualifications
• Strong software development skills in Python
• Practical experience developing computer vision algorithms and/or robot motion/trajectory planning solutions
• Experience developing software in a Linux environment
• Practical knowledge of ROS 2
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical problems
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
• OpenCV, object detection, segmentation, or pose estimation
• MoveIt, robot kinematics, motion planning, or calibration
• Robotic arms, grippers, depth/stereo cameras, or mobile robots
• Machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch
• C/C++ or embedded systems
Previous commercial robotics experience is desirable but not essential.
However, hands-on development experience in computer vision or robot motion/trajectory planning is required.
This experience may come from commercial projects, research, university projects, competitions, or substantial personal projects.
