About The Role We are seeking a Full Stack Java Developer (m/w/d) to join our interdisciplinary team at our Bremen location. This role is pivotal in maintaining, enhancing, and stabilizing a critical business system within port logistics. You will be responsible for the ongoing development of the system, ensuring its robustness and scalability, and gradually restructuring its architecture towards a modular architecture. Working closely with fellow developers, quality assurance teams, and the Product Owner, you will contribute to the system’s evolution, laying the foundation for future modernization efforts. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex, enterprise-level applications and influence architectural decisions in a collaborative environment. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a relevant qualification such as an apprenticeship as an IT specialist for application development, a degree in computer science, or an equivalent professional background. You should have several years of professional experience in Java software development, demonstrating a strong understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies. A keen interest in the logistics and railway sectors is essential, with a willingness to deepen your domain knowledge. Proven experience in maintaining, stabilizing, and evolving existing application systems is required. You should be proficient in test-driven development, writing maintainable code, and using modern development tools such as Maven, Git, Jenkins, and GitLab. Knowledge of Spring Boot, React, and Docker is advantageous. Excellent communication skills in German (minimum C1 level) and good English language skills are also necessary to succeed in this role. Responsibilities Maintain and continuously develop a mission-critical Java-based system integral to port logistics operations.Stabilize existing applications, enhancing their reliability, maintainability, and testability.Gradually restructure the technical architecture towards a modular, component-based system, considering current technology stacks.Work with proprietary Java frameworks, open-source libraries, and implement established Jakarta standards such as JPA.Analyze current system structures and identify pragmatic, sustainable improvements for system optimization.Actively participate in architectural and technological decision-making processes.Ensure high software quality through practices like test-driven development, pair programming, and thorough code reviews.Collaborate closely with development, quality assurance, and product management teams within an agile environment.Take responsibility for technical aspects of projects and proactively drive initiatives forward.
