About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Front-End Developer to join our dynamic team at BNY. A thorough understanding of CSS, including pre-processors, advanced styling techniques, CSS variables, and color systems, is essential. Extensive experience with Web Components and their application in large-scale systems is required, as well as a proven track record in managing complex theming architectures and scaling design systems. Familiarity with version management, library dependency management, and packaged version control is crucial to ensure smooth deployment cycles. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams are vital, as is a passion for creating comprehensive documentation and working code demonstrations. Candidates should demonstrate a keen eye for visual and interactive detail, with a solid understanding of user interaction patterns and accessibility standards. Responsibilities Lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the company's design system, focusing on reusability, scalability, and long-term sustainability.Architect and implement web components that act as the building blocks for user interfaces across various applications.Develop advanced theming solutions to support multiple brand identities and user preferences, utilizing CSS variables, variable stacking, and sophisticated color systems.Manage the entire lifecycle of design system components—from initial development and testing to production deployment, versioning, and ongoing maintenance.Oversee library and package dependency management to ensure a stable, efficient, and scalable development environment.Collaborate closely with design, product, and engineering teams to translate visual and interaction design into functional, high-quality components.Promote best practices in front-end development, performance optimization, and accessibility standards.Mentor and guide junior developers and team members on design system principles, best practices, and implementation techniques.Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and guidelines to facilitate seamless collaboration and understanding among designers and developers.Create working code demonstrations that showcase component capabilities and usage scenarios for internal teams and stakeholders. Benefits BNY offers a competitive compensation package, with the base salary for this position expected to range between $95,000 and $209,000 per year, depending on experience and market location.
