Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Arlington, TX for a Senior Engineer in semiconductor optoelectronics and nanophotonics.
The Senior Engineer will design, model, and optimize advanced optoelectronic and nanophotonic devices, including PCSELs and photonic crystal structures, from concept through prototype.
Day-to-day responsibilities include device and process development, semiconductor wafer and chip characterization, data analysis, and collaboration with fabrication partners or internal cleanroom teams.
The role also involves developing test plans, documenting experimental results, and translating research findings into manufacturable product concepts.
The Senior Engineer will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical roadmaps, and support cross-functional efforts in product development and customer projects.
Qualifications

Strong foundation in semiconductor optoelectronics and nanophotonics, including design and analysis of lasers, photonic crystals, and related integrated photonic components.Hands-on experience with device simulation tools (e.g., FDTD, FEM, rate-equation or optical mode solvers) and proficiency in data analysis using software such as Python, MATLAB, or similar environments.Practical experience in semiconductor processing, epitaxial growth, or micro/nanofabrication, as well as optical and electrical characterization of devices (e.g., L-I-V measurements, spectral analysis, near- and far-field imaging).Ability to develop and interpret design specifications, experimental procedures, and technical documentation, with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in laboratory and production environments.Effective collaboration and communication skills for working in multidisciplinary teams, mentoring less-experienced staff, and presenting technical results to internal and external stakeholders.Master’s or Ph.D.
