Senior Backend Engineer, Medical SaaS

PLEASE NOTE: This role is Hybrid - Remote with occasional travel to the come in East Dallas. A few days per quarter at most. This role will report directly to the CTO with direct interaction of the Founder / CEO. There is no work sponsorship or relocation assistance offered for this role. We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team, focusing on developing and enhancing our cutting-edge Medical Billing Automation SaaS platform. As a key contributor, you will drive the design, development, and deployment of scalable, reliable solutions that streamline medical billing workflows, improve accuracy, and enhance user experience. Duties Lead the development of backend systems using Python, ensuring robust integration with AI models, LLMs, and EDI protocols to automate complex billing tasks.Design and implement scalable microservices architectures utilizing cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Azure to support high-volume data processing.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop RESTful APIs and web services that facilitate seamless communication between components and external systems.Develop intuitive front-end interfaces with React, Angular, or similar frameworks to improve usability for end-users managing billing workflows.Apply system design principles to create efficient database schemas using relational databases like SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, as well as NoSQL options like MongoDB.Implement rigorous testing strategies including unit testing, integration testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) standards.Participate actively in Agile software development practices such as Scrum or Kanban, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and continuous improvement initiatives.Skills Extensive experience with Python programming language for backend development and AI integration.Strong knowledge of AI technologies including Large Language Models (LLMs) and their application in automation solutions.Proficiency in EDI standards and protocols essential for healthcare data exchange processes.Technical SkillsExpert-level Python for ETL/ELT pipelines and automation, including libraries such as pandas, pydantic, and SQLAlchemy. Production experience with a workflow orchestration platform such as Prefect, Airflow, or Dagster.Strong SQL fluency across relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake); familiarity with dbt or similar transformation tooling. Disciplined testing and delivery practices: pytest or equivalent, continuous integration (GitHub Actions or similar), Docker, and Git-based code review.Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services, Azure preferred.
