Description

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. Information Technology Services (ITS) is DSS’s technology services organization. ITS mission is to support the daily, emergent, and long-term needs of both agencies. ITS creates and enhances the technology infrastructure and computer applications that support HRA and DHS and develops applications, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, case management systems, housing systems, employment/work engagement services, revenue producing computer matches, claiming systems, and personnel systems. Information Technology Services (ITS) is recruiting for one (1) IT Infrastructure Engineer, to function as Cloud DevOps and Application Migration Engineer, who will: Assess, application architecture, dependencies, interfaces, data flows, technical debt, security requirements, and operational constraints in order to recommend appropriate cloud migration or modernization approaches. Collaborate with business analysts, application owners, developers, infrastructure teams, and vendors to define functional and technical migration requirements and resolve application readiness gaps. Design, build, and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and related automation platforms in order to standardize application deployment to cloud environments. Assist teams in modernizing legacy .NET, Java, API, and related application components by recommending refactoring, configuration, dependency, and deployment changes needed for cloud readiness. Implement application monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and dashboard capabilities using cloud-native and enterprise monitoring platforms in order to support operational visibility and incident response. Coordinate application migration activities with development teams, Infrastructure and Operations, security teams, vendors, and project stakeholders in order to manage dependencies, risks, decisions, and implementation status. Provide technical guidance to application teams on cloud deployment processes, pipeline usage, container practices, observability, and migration issue resolution. Hours/Shift: 9:00am-5:00pm IT INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER - 95714 Minimum Qualifications A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or, A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or, Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Preferred Skills Experience migrating and modernizing enterprise applications in AWS and Azure environments. - Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and scripting or automation tools. - Experience with .NET, Java, APIs, serverless computing, managed cloud services, application observability, and performance tuning. - Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices, release management, secrets management, automated testing, security scanning, and deployment governance. - Ability to collaborate with application development, infrastructure, security, vendor, and business teams during complex migration waves.
