Software Engineering Lead

Role Description As a Software Engineering Lead (Hands-on)at Flowen, you will take technical ownership of our platform and help evolve our existing MVP into a secure, scalable, and production-ready product. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will design, code, review, deploy, and lead, working across backend services, APIs, databases, integrations, cloud infrastructure, and production systems. You will work closely with Product and AI/ML teams to bring behavioral intelligence and AI capabilities into real-world applications, while establishing engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and helping build Flowen’s internal technology capability. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Bangkok, combining in-office collaboration with work-from-home flexibility. Key Responsibilities * Take technical ownership of the existing platform, architecture, and codebase* Design and develop scalable backend services, APIs, databases, and integrations* Make pragmatic architectural decisions around scalability, security, and maintainability* Own cloud deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, and production reliability* Establish engineering standards, testing, code review, and technical documentation* Work with AI/ML engineers to integrate models and decisioning capabilities into production* Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system performance* Mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives from design through deployment* Support the transition of technical ownership from external development partners to Flowen’s internal team Qualifications * 7+ years of software engineering experience, with experience owning systems or technical initiatives end-to-end * Strong hands-on backend or full-stack development experience, preferably with Python * Experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask, or similar backend frameworks * Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, APIs, and system integrations * Experience with React / Next.js or comparable modern frontend technologies * Experience with AWS or other major cloud platforms and production deployment * Strong understanding of Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and code review practices * Good understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, and secure data handling * Ability to work with an existing codebase and improve it pragmatically rather than defaulting to a full rewrite * Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical architecture and decision-making * Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Nice to have: Experience in FinTech, Banking, Enterprise SaaS, Docker, data pipelines/ETL, AI/ML production integration, or enterprise system integrations.
